I'm looking at getting some M5 style grilles for my car. This is the most current picture I have of my car. The only difference from this pic and my car in it's current state are P39's, window tint, and I have an M5 bumper getting painted.

My car has chrome trim on the rest of it, but I plan on changing it to black after I get the M5 bumper. I was trying to find a grille that had the chorme outside and the middle all black, but I couldn't find any. I think I might want to go with all black grilles now though. I'm not sure what grilles will look the best with the color of my car, Montreal Blue Metallic. I'd appreciate any advice you guys can offer.

Chrome outside, black inside goes good with black trim... ask me how I know.. ;)

Given the nature of your side trim, I'd say chrome outside, black inside. But chrome inside looks good too. Just keep her clean.

I meant where to buy a set like this, not for pictures. So far all I've seen is either all chrome or all black.

most friends are 50/50 the old owner still likes the old look whereas my thoughts were just to make it look a little more modern, still a bit tough too

I bought one of the cheap chrome/chrome ones on ebay then carefully taped off the outer ring and painted the middle with SEM semi-flat black... It has been almost a year and it still looks perfect. I think a lot of them are actually 2 piece so you can just take them apart and paint the middle.

I think the way it worked was, after the facelift, the 525 and 530 got chrome with black inserts, and the 540 and M5 got Chrome/chrome (even on these, only the outer edge of the fins is chrome. thre rest is black).

I went with the chrome/chrome, which was alot more expensive than the chrome/black at pelicanparts. If I were to do it again, I would save my $$ and do chrome/black.

I'd leave it just how it is.

I voted for "Chrome outside/black inside", personally I like the look of the Chrome outside due to the fact that AE headlight has the chrome part on it around the projectors.

I guess it depends on how your bimmer is modified, too.

I'll take the old ones off you if you want to sell. I prefer the skinny grill faces on the '98 (to whatever 2000?). Mine are pretty loose...

I voted all black, but if you decide to go chrome outer and black inner, just order a chrome set and use the stock inner.... It will work.... That way you have the option of 2 of the combos listed.....

I think I broke a tab on mine. I ordered a set of all chrome off Ebay, but they sent me ones for a 3-Series. I didn't realize it until I took mine and I broke a tab on it when I put it back in.

I don't know. I'm thinking body color out. Mine is like Dan's - Orient Blue and black or chrome just does not look right.

I cant tell if your car is blue or black. If its blue I would leave as is....

Black would look weird and chrome would look autozone

I prefer the black as well. My e39 is silver with 19" black/chrome lip wheels, so the black grilles and smoke side markers really pulls it out. I know i keep saying it, but i'm taking pics this weekend. I'm excited to get some feedback from people who actually know what they're looking at as opposed to just another person here who likes any car with rims and tint.
