Hello Bimmercrew,

i got some problems with the fully automatic top of my 1997 E36 320i.
If i press the button to open the top, nothing happen (Also the
sidewindows don't lower a little bit)

Here is what i've done up to now:
Check all 4 Fuses - OK
Check Switch 5 in Trunk - OK
Open all connectors from the Motors and cleaning the contacts.
Pull the emergency lever and open the top by hand to reinitialize it - but the initalisation don't starts. (LED ist blinking when top is open)I read a lot in that forum, and found the Initialisationvideo and the
101 Thread - but nothing fitts really to my problem :(

Has had somone a similar problem and can give me an advice to repair it?

many greetings from Germany

Check your microswitches as I have had a similar problem which has also been triggering my car alarm as the boot registered as open. Mine was the switch on the boot lock. All seemed normal with regards to electrics and switches on the dashboard but the roof would not open at all. My boot locking mechanism had some slight damage which meant that the locking plates are slightly out of alingnment.

Ok, will do.
Does it makes sence to go to my local BMW Dealer and ask him to read out
the Errorlog? In the 101 Thread there is an Document that mention that
the top-control-system-box got an own Errorlock. Or do i missunderstood that?
