OK, was going through the car today trying to make sure it was ready for the autoX tomorrow morning.

-I got the gauges ghetto installed, but the oil temp wires come unplugged when I open the heater valve on the dash. I'll try to sort that tomorrow before the driver's meeting, or through the day.

-Figured out that the Momo hub I bought from some dude on here over a year ago wasn't for an e21 as he said, doesn't even look like it is for a BMW. Wrong diameter, so still running stock steering wheel. :(

-Discovered a tail light is out (parking light one, the brake lights still work).

-I've got worn ball joints, and I THINK they are making a knocking sound as I go through left handers. At least I hope that is what it is.

-Engine isn't running great, but it's running and seems to be over boosting. The system should be set-up for 6psi. That's what it was running when I first got the boost gauge in. But now it seems to be hitting 9-11psi. That might sound great, but I don't think I have the set-up for that yet. I need to keep tabs on my AFR (have that wide-band gauge some of you are getting in the groupbuy), and I'm actually worried I'm going to fry something in the motor BEFORE I get it all dialed in. AFR is around 13ish when I'm climbing in boost. I might need to make sure the waste gate is operating correctly....

That's about it for now I think. I'll probably have more after tomorrow's autoX. Assuming my tires and the motor last through the day. But if I break something I'm well withing towing distance to my place, or the shop that would fix most of my probs (since I can't REALLY work on the car much at the condo).

....I'm starting to save now for rebuilding this as a turbo M10. It may need it 'soon'.

Doug I've heard optimal afr for a turbo car is 12.5:1 so you might be ok.

Friend of mine had an overboost problem, he wound up having to modify the waste gate because it was too small. Since you've said that it was working fine, is it possible the waste gate has coked up making the opening smaller? Just a (uneducated) guess.

Did you ever do your rear subframe bushings? I had one where the center section was completely loose and was sliding in and out of the outer shell causing a clunking noise (when i turn right)...but the polyurethane cured that!:)

Rear subframe bushings have NOT been done. Those, the steering rack mounts, and the control arms need replacing. Trailing arm bushings were replaced less than a year ago though. So yes, still some stuff to freshen up.

AFR...well, on the WAY to the autoX I was able to get a decent look while on the highway. At 9psi I was running 14.1 AFR. And this was part throttle. Idle is sitting at around 15.0 or so. I need to adjust the fuel at the least. And thankfully I found there is a BMW tool for that, since I have had trouble finding one that is long enough to get to the fuel distributor that I am comfy with. Daryl is the man for that since he found one in the trunk tool of a car in a wrecking yard. But at least now I KNOW there is one.

But before I do anything else, the car needs tires after yesterday. And according to Daryl I need to raise the rear end a bit.

....sorry, left that part out. I have coil overs on the car now. Another thread on that later today. :redspot

Whoa whoa whoa Doug, you better put softer and longer springs on there than stock if you have coilovers now. :D

Nah, in all seriousness, regarding your rear ride height: see about borrowing some scales and corner balance that sucker.
