What do you use to clean/polish the "wood" around the A/T shifter? Mine is very dull and the ones I see here in the pics look much shinier than mine. I know it can be better. :) Thanks.

Qsilver7 02-16-2008, 02:05 PM I've found using Kohr violin polish (a cleaner/polish for wooden instruments) works excellent. It has a very light abrasive cleaning property that removes oxidation, grime, dust, etc...plus it contains a wax that allow it to buff out to a high sheen that can stand up to being touched etc without rubbing off. In fact, you can take a dry or slightly damp cloth to wipe off the console every now and then as you clean the interior. My old 91 735il ctr console was very dull with no sheen at all...and when I applied about a 2 teaspoons full of Kohr Violin Polish...rubbed it in in a circular motion, let it dry, then buffed it out...it brought back the sheen to the very dulled surface. And because it has a wax infused into the cleaner/polish...it dries to a hard clean finish when buffed out...so unllike some suggestions to use furniture polish...the finish doesn't rub off in a few days. You can see my e32's center console in the pics below and how it looked before & after the use of the Kohr polish..."before" using the polish the wood was VERY dull with no sheen, and "afterwards" you can see the reflection of the surround gray interior parts on the wood surface...and you can also see the reflection from the sunroof being open: (I didn't actually take a before & after photo...but I did find a photo that partially shows the wood console before I used the Kohr polish) **************************Before****************** ******************************After*************** ************* http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/q/original/EDC%20switch.jpg http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/q/original/E32%20Ctr%20Console%20Gear%20Indicator%20A%20M%20s witch.jpg Kohr Violin Polish (found were fine instruments are sold): http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/q/original/Kohr%20Polish.jpg Hellrot530i 02-16-2008, 03:35 PM I've found using Kohr violin polish (a cleaner/polish for wooden instruments) works excellent.
