I was hoping the headliner did not have to come out but the rust has to go and I want to get rid of the rails permanently. Thanks for the reply attack eagle. attack eagle 02-16-2008, 05:20 PM lemme know how it goes. I'm thinking of taking mine off as well. MoTouring 02-18-2008, 12:23 PM There was a write up on this forum, the guy said that he had to remove the headliner and that there were about 5-6 per side. Said the hardest was getting the headliner out. Do you have the aero racks, if so I would be interested in them. Does anyone know what the rails are made of, mine are blistering and looks almost like pot metal. Depending on weight I might buy your rails, so I can look into getting them done and then swap new for old. Thread highjack:- does anyone know what dealer charges for the hatch glass strut R&R? It sounds like a PIA for DIY, or is it easy with recommended tool? Qsilver7 02-18-2008, 03:31 PM Thread highjack:- does anyone know what dealer charges for the hatch glass strut R&R? Here's a DIRECT link to the part number database and you can see how much Maximillian sells them for...but write down the BMW part nbr listed and call you local dealer's parts dept: http://www.bmwmobiletradition-online.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=HJ63&mospid=47414&btnr=41_0840&hg=41&fg=60 (the glass hatch's strut is item #1 in diagram below) http://www.bmwmobiletradition-online.com/bmw/diagrams/s/y/5.png |
