I also posted this on the audio forum, but thought maybe you guys have some specific answers.
My '6 is an '07, no CD changer. I had been using MP3 CDs before this car though, with no issues, and used 1 in the BMW so far which worked great. It's really neat how iDrive navigates through the disc, showing entire folder contents and folder titles and everything.
Well my most recent creation has 90 songs in 5 folders, ~470MB. It works in my '08 volkswagen GTI. But for some reason, when I switched it in to the BMW, I could hear it being scanned and whatnot, but the system didn't automatically switch over to the "CD" source, and that source remained grayed-out (couldn't be selected). So basically, this CD doesn't work at all in the M6. I tried it a couple times even, to no avail.
What gives? Is there a limit that I don't know about to how much data/how many tracks can be on the disc? (The one I had in before, that worked, was probably only 50 tracks or less). Or do I need to tag the folders as certain names/numbers? The previous MP3 CD that worked, I had each folder as numbers, 1 through 6. On iDrive those titles showed up though, so for this one I named each folder ("Recent," "Random," etc). Is this not allowed? I can't think of any other issues or differences in the disc that worked and the one that hasn't worked. If there are any MP3 experts out there, I'm hoping for some tips on how to make this work as best I can. Thanks.
