i found this e21 i want to buy and i noticed the badge is on the other side then any other bimmer. anyone got info on this? :confused

most likely a repaint and the installer of the new badge screwed up
but then they would have to fill the old holes and make new ones.i still say it's a screw up

well the car came white from the factory so we know someone didnt paint it another color but there is still a chance of someone repainting it. the first thing i thought when i saw it is "where the fuck are the holes for the emblem!?" i keep staring at the pics, the car looks so wierd with it on that side. im thinking... did they drill holes in the otherside? :confused also it has black lower body paint which i dont think i have ever seen come from the factory

Well I guess besides having a rare 3 series you can add a even more rare left side 3 series badge. :D

maybe im just imagining it, but it almost looks like there is a slight twist in the whole rear end - like the right hand side is sagging slightly? Could have been bent?

That is a 320is. I saw it on craigslist, has all the signs of one. front valence, bbs wheels, recaros.... somebody must've installed the emblem on the left side at some point, they do not know that their car is an s-model.

ugh, badging and s model, i think it looks so much better without it.

and isnt that a FOHA or w/e valance? i thought all IS's got the bbs valance?

and i think the black on the bottom makes the park bench stand out more..

yeah, i went to go see this one, its an IS. its not in the best of shape, but a good fixer upper. and to me it looked like the reason it wasn't running was that the spark plug wires were wrong :P

Although I agree that the reason there are no holes for the badge is that it is a 320is, it looks like the rear valence under the bumper on the pass side is tweaked up a bit. It doesn't hang down as far as on the driver's side.

The paint may have been to treat rust, look more like a Trueno Panda, or just to be different. Who knows at this point, but not factory.

I'd say its an iS and the guy wanted a badge and just put it on the wrong side.

from what i saw (i didn't get a look at the engine) it looked ok. the int. is a little gone... but with some $$ and work it'll be good.

well do you remember my e21? i stripped the whole interior so that doesnt matter. the body looks good and i like the white. im just gunna drop a m30 in. i plan to cage the whole thing and cut the tunnel out and make a removable one so i can pull the motor back far. she used the bmw decoder and it says it isnt a 320is

There's no factory stick on ones that I know of. They aren't exactly screwed on, just some pegs formed into the back of the emblem.

Its been repainted at least on the trunk lid and they put the badge on the wrong side. I had a Dodge Lancer (Dodge on one side Lancer on the other) repainted and it came back as a Dodge Lancer on the same side.

shouldnt the decoder say if its a "is" or not? ill have some money in acouple of days and hopefully i can talk her down. she says it needs $2000 in work so maybe i can get it for dirt cheap. im a smooth talker when it comes to cars.... girls are something else haha.:confused

no, its an IS, its got a rear sway and an lsd (i had a jack in the back of my car)
