my engine s definatley blown. i have a couple questions about 1.8 compared to 2.0. my car is a 79 with the 2.0 in it. there is a 1.8 that i can have. i was wondering if i could bolt up my manifolds and off of the 2.0 head onto the 1.8 head that way i do not have to deal with chaning any of the sensors or anything like that. thanks for you help.

^^dude if you don't have a useful coment, don't coment.

back to the ENGINE at hand. i believe you can. i mean, heads are interchangeable, so i don't see why manifolds shouldn't be. are you running carbs or injection?

shame about your engine, it musta had a hard life to blow at 99.

sure can.

But, off the top of my head, the main thing that you'll need to change or swap is the ignition system. 1.8's had an electronic ignition system whereas the 2.0's were an older points-type; the 1.8 & 2.0 ignition distributors (and cams) are also splined different from one another...so it's not quite an easy swap.
IMO, the easiest route would be to use the whole 1.8 ignition system (you'll need the distributor, coil, ignition control module, & associated wiring)

awesome, the engine is coming out of a 81 parts car so everything is there to make the swap. so i will pull the igntion system out of that car. thanks for the help.

scrap that, i was about to say "i have a full wiring harness" but, i wont now. :( damn, i thought i was going to get rid of it!

shouldn't be too bad a swap, as long as you set up for it right

You'll have to plug the injector holes in the 1.8 head. It will be pretty hard to hook up the 1.8 ignition. You'll have to cut both wiring harness' to pieces and figure out where to go from there. It is about the only option though.

that's why people don't like you here. what happened to this "changed man" crap? grow up. be useful, or at least supportive, or just don't respond.

That's unfortunate. What evidence do you have that it's absolutely done for?

It's no where near worth the effort to install the 1.8 temporarily. I doubt you'll like the loss in HP either.
