View Full Version : E30 M3s are ugly, don't you agree? Snappie 07-28-2001, 12:08 AM yes or no? Don Stevens 07-28-2001, 06:58 PM I think they aree very groovy baby, yeah. Seriously, I like them. i think they look "purposeful". Don Bob ///M3 07-28-2001, 08:11 PM I think the E30 M3 is great looking! I love the way the side sheet metal buldges out unlike other models. It really does look sporty and "ready" to be driven... in my opinion! Bob ///M3 Oxcart 1 07-29-2001, 01:52 AM Its my fav. E30. It looks more modern than the others and its got ALOT of HP for a NA 4 cylinder. So I disagree. I like :) Cosmos///95Lux 07-29-2001, 02:07 AM I strongly disagree. The e30 was the best looking ///M of them all. A true race car for the streets. Those flaired fenders give me chills. If they had the drivetrain and reliability of the e36 I would sell mine in a second. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about an e36 engine swap for a nice looking e30. Don Stevens 07-29-2001, 10:47 AM Cosmos, there is a guy in the Atlanta area with a E36 M3 motor in a sweet red E30 M3. I don't know his name but I belive he is an instructor at the local BMWCCA events at Road Atlanta. Cool Car Bry 07-29-2001, 12:20 PM I love how the e30 m3 looks. Personally, I think it is the most beautiful BMW ever built. It is all for a purpose also. I especially love the blistered fenders for the larger wheels. I would have to say, an E46 M3 comes next in my list. E30 M3 (http://communities.msn.com/AustinBBQMeet/shoebox.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=29) JamesM3M5 07-30-2001, 10:57 AM What are you smokin, Snappie!!?? Them's fightin' words!!! I think you may find a dozen or so BMW fans that think the E30 M3 is ugly. The rest of us think it is a work of art. It's like going to a muscle-car board and saying the Shelby Cobra is ugly. It doesn't look like a brand new Merc or BMW, but it was a beautiful rendition of a man's dream. Fast as nuts, too. JamesM Snappie 07-30-2001, 01:50 PM Hehe... I just thought it was funny how there were no posts on this board, so I tried to lighten it up. I actually think that the E30 M3's aren't so bad. However, I can't say that it looks anything close to better than the E36 M3. Atleast you guys have avoided flaming me :-) However, I would still like to hear other people's opinions. Bry 08-01-2001, 02:16 AM I haven't seen any flaming on these boards. The reason I think that is because you have to register, so you sort of build up an online character. No one wants to spend all the time registering just to flame, and ruin their name. Snappy, by the way, what type of BMW do you own? (Just curious) Are you a member of the Tejas chapter of the BMW CCA? Or is plano in a different chapter? Snappie 08-01-2001, 04:42 PM I own a 93 325is... no I'm not a CCA member. I am interested in applying however. Its great that we don't have to put up w/ all the flaming. Roadfly is horrible. Regards, Alex Bry 08-01-2001, 06:10 PM The roadfly board is horrible. The E30 M3 board doesn't have that much flaming, but still, it has some. Porridgehead 08-17-2001, 08:11 PM Ugly as a clenched fist. They are not a beautiful car by any stretch. They exude all the grace of a Chicago bouncer stuffed into a suit two sizes too small. They are brutal, straightforward and sudden. That being said, I'm quite smitten with them. They are purposeful with no filigree or puffery, only that which is necessary. This, I like. Jonathan Bry 08-17-2001, 08:13 PM Hehe, I am glad other people don't like them, so they are all for me! Not really, I love the way they look, very purposeful as you said, but I love looking at them. So interesting with the sharp lines. To each is own as said (I think! :128: ) Porridgehead 08-17-2001, 11:51 PM Whoa, wait a second, who said that they didn't like them? I think we all agree that we like them, that wasn't the question. The question was if they were ugly. I find this kind of ugly very engaging, stunning even. There are many shades of ugly that are not necessarily repulsive. I look at the designs of Pinninfarina as beautiful. They are fluid, luscious, voluptuous, none of which you can apply to the brutishness of the E30 M3. Ugly, yes. Unattractive? Far from it. Jonathan Bav///Man 09-08-2001, 04:39 PM I like the E30 M3 because you can tell it apart right away from all of the other E30's. The E36 M3 definitely has its differences, but it's not as easily distinguishable. 00soul 09-08-2001, 04:52 PM can someone post a closeup pic of the trunk, i never noticed that the trunks/boots are different than the regular e30's, a open and closed pic would be nice :) Bry 09-08-2001, 05:44 PM I went outside and took some pictures of my car just for you :) (Please excuse the dirty car!) Here is one: Bry 09-08-2001, 05:44 PM 2 Bry 09-08-2001, 05:44 PM 3 Bry 09-08-2001, 05:45 PM 4 Bav///Man 09-08-2001, 06:03 PM By the looks of those pics, your M3 is in excellent condition Bry 09-08-2001, 06:08 PM Originally posted by Bavman By the looks of those pics, your M3 is in excellent condition Thanks! It has a problem with the rear wing. It has lost all of its glossyness, and needs a repaint. On the rear bumper, there is a split in the paint where it is trying to start pealing away. But other than that it is in very good condition. (well, at least for the back). The hood has quite a bit of oxidation, and the front bumper/spoiler is a little oxidised. |
