I get a "flashing" CEL usually between 1st - 2nd and rarely between 2nd - 3rd. Could this be a tranny problem? Mounts?

SOMETIMES its a little more effort to put it into 1st or 2nd, but not ridiculous.

What do you guys recommend?

Have the fault codes read out. That should provide a clue as to the cause of the CEL flashes.

I was under the impression they couldn't be, because of it just "flashing"

If the CEL flashes, there should be a stored fault code. And for some problems the DME will store a fault code even though the CEL is never turned on.
