I'm chasing down all the water leaks in my 1983 633 CSI. I have found several groments in the firewall that were pushed out and not seal. While I have the interior apart, I'm thinking of pulling the dash to make sure I'm not missing anything...I don't want to see another wet floor! Will this work is it neccesary, how do you get the dash around the heater control? Thanks for any info...Nick

For me, removing the dash was a puzzle. I'm hoping to never do it again.

Nick, if you are pulling the dash then everything has to come out. Start with seats-you will spend alot of time on your back, then steering column, then A/C blower and radio.
Now you can see up under the dash to disconect the HVAC controls, then the gage cluster and finally the dash.
However, you may not have to. Water usually doesn't get to the firewall, it comes in through the windshield gasket or the rubber wireing gromets on either side of blower, just under the grills in the hood,(call it the air box) Those are the areas to concentrate on. when the weather allows get the hose out and start testing. Start with the windshield, seal off the air box witha garbage bag over the opening and close the hood on it. Now you know that any water coming in will be coming from the windshield, satrt pouring water and checking inside to see if it's makeing its way inside. Also make sure the drain holes in the air box are clear before you start testing that area. It took me 3-4 weekends to track them all down. I used 3M windshield sealant and a new gasket for the windshield and self sealing roofing stuff for the rubber gromets.
