I've been missing a pc of my l/r headrest since I got the car. PO's didn't complete their raping of the interior. So the only one I could find was black. I went to the local AutoMat, a big auto upholsterer here on LI. I asked him about dyeing it or reskinning it. He suggested I bypass both, dyeing being messy and time consuming, reskinning being way expensive (approx $150). He suggested I use an adhesive base and flexible coating made for plastics, leather, glass, just about anything man made. They themselves use it. He called up the road to a big paint shop and off I went. I ended up with these 2 products, Bulldog adhesive spray and SEMS flexible coating. After cleaning the pc w/ a brillo pad and drying I started w/ the base coats. This is some NASTY stuff. Use a respirator for sure! Don't even think of smoking in the same room! 2 coats approx 10 min apart. 30 min to dry up hard. Then spray on the flexible coating lightly spraying. A couple coats of that and a couple hrs to dry up completely and good to go! It's expensive stuff, the adhesive is $19 and the flex coating $10, but I think well worth it.....oh and I finally found my map light and got the cigarette lighter working!
