Does anyone know where I can buy the ECU chip for a Euro '84 M635Csi? I'm pretty sure the ECU for the American M6 fits the Euro model.

Your ECU is most likely an 055. The US M6 runs a different ECU and chip because of the O2 sensor. There was someone parting out a M635 on BigCoupe. You might want to check there.

I just sold an 055 for $500, and I think the 061 is nearly as valuable. (not something you need a spare of, Joe) I think the OP might be asking about a preformance chip though. They are NOT the same as the US m6, or any other car.

I disagree, because the 061 was used in much more cars than the 055 which was exclusively in the M635CSi and E28-M5.
Currently there is a 061 ECU on ebay Germany, article 190198055075
I'm quite sure it'll not even get close to $100,-
But I do agree, keeping an ECU as a spare part is unnecessary. I have had countless BMW in my live and only once I had a defective ECU resulting in a non working rpm meter.

The only ones I've seen advertising a chip specifically for the Euro model is Bavarian Auto, they ran about $270 last time I checked...

Dinan makes or at least did make one. I had one from 1989, and there were at least 2 revisions after that. I think they still offer one.

Did you check w/ Mark D'Sylva? He's up in Toronto and goes by D'Sylva Technology www.dsylva-tech.com (http://www.dsylva-tech.com) In the US, his chips are marketed under the name Ultrachip. He has 2 dealers. 1st is Steve Haygood, Automobile Solutions and the other is Daniel Teague, The Racing Vein in Bolton Mass. I have their full contact info if you need it. I had spoken with Mark a couple weeks ago about chipping my euro..
