View Full Version : AA C-38 S/C kit - avg 17 MPG
beamah328is 02-09-2008, 05:51 PM For the past 3 weeks, I've been averaging 17 mpg for sure. My OBC has 26 mpg even after I reset it. I do reset the trip every time I get gas. The OBC is totally off due to the performance upgrades.
On past threads, I've seen someone get 11 mpg with this kit, but something is wrong there and I can't go by that. Am I doing okay at 17 or is it still kind of low?
JordanMD88 02-09-2008, 05:56 PM AA tunes pretty rich to be safe :)
Drifter 02-09-2008, 06:51 PM Your OBC is going to be off if you are running different injectors.
Go by checking milage and gallons.
Also like Jordan said AA tunes safe because its a mass produced kit.

That's how I keep getting 17 mph... by checking mileage & gallons. But is that considered okay mileage?

Yup...I get 18 / / for over a year now

17, I assume city driving? I get 23 mpg on the highway. But then again, my C30-94 is intercooled.
I set the OBC to read 10 mpg more than the actual. Thus, my OBC says "33 mpg". It doesn't have enough settings to read the actual at 23 mpg. Do a search on how to change the OBC settings.

If you're topping out at 17 MPH with a C38 kit, you may have some problems!

///M3 CRAZY 02-11-2008, 11:13 AM you should get less at first then it should do better. once you lay off the happy pedal it will get a little better. i used to get about 300-320 miles to the tank mixed driving. then when i first did the charger i would get 250-260 with mixed driving and now i get 280-290 with mixed driving. it's all in the right foot. when on the highway use your cruise control it really helps a lot.

That's still great though.. I get ~260-280 on a stock '95 M3 and I don't dog the car all the time, ~19 mpg in Texas weather.

On a flat highway w/o AC and driving 70mph, my stock m50 would get 30+mpg. I've not really tracked MPG with the c30 yet.
beamah328is 02-11-2008, 02:40 PM The 17 mpg I get is from mixed (city/highway). The days I do decide to drive it to work, I warm up the car, go inside the house and sometimes forget about it. I then come out 10 minutes later. I guess I waste gas there too. I do the WOT thing a few times throughout the day... I didn't pay to get boost for nothing.
325icintn 02-11-2008, 03:17 PM BTW - is this 3.2 OBD1 or OBD2?
Your sig also has a 3.38 diff listed. With that diff, 17 mpg sounds plausible. If someone knows the mpg penalty/bonus on different diff ratios, I would be interested in seeing it.
whopwood 02-11-2008, 05:33 PM I get anywhere from 26 on pure highway cruise down to around 10-12 if I am romping the hell out of it in town. It's how you drive it that matters.

It's OBD2. I guess the diffs could also be another reason. Another gas-guzzling mod besides the bigger injectors, but I love it. :)
BTW, I just filled up and did the calculation on my daily driver (95 Accord). I did 30.7 mpg, probably because I never pass 3k rpm. What's the point? It's slow but saves me money... good on gas using regular.
