Did you say 6 speed tranny also? Or did I miss that part already?

You'll want one once you get that 3.46 in there. I have a 3.38 and crave a 6th gear.

Did you say 10mpg? Just kidding. I just wanted to give you a hard time like everyone else. Can't wait to see the results.

All in time, I will get one for sure but one thing at a time :D this is the excuse to get the 6 speed later on :)

Yes, but I'm buying R-comp tires and that should help a little bit, I need more power in 3rd gear and this diff should do the trick with the new exhaust.

I just put a 3.38 in that I got a great deal on. Were I buying a new diff, I would have gotten a 3.64. I did not think I would feel the improvement from a 3.23 to a 3.38, but I can.

I thought these cars needed a 6th gear even with the stock 3.23. It is hard to justify, though, unless you get a great deal. Gear ratios 1-5 are the same, so you are paying for the overdrive and not for any better performance. If you go from 20 mpg to 27 mpg, you save 1/3 on your gas. If you spend $2400 per year on gas, that is $800 savings. It will probably take 4 years for the 6 speed swap to pay for itself. Longer if you don't drive much.

I recently contacted www.m3spares.com (http://www.m3spares.com) over in England about a e36 Evo tranny. Here's what I found out:

£950 - includes 6speed tranny, driveshaft, crossmember support and shifter
£795 - tranny ONLY
£437 - shipping to VA- airfreight

So you're talking $2700 for everything (trans, driveshaft...), not that bad a deal when you look around classifieds and what people are asking for JUST the tranny. He even said if I can arrange better shipping, he wouldn't mind going with it.

3.46 rear is really nice in these cars with a SC. I am on my second one. Be careful with R comps my dif got eaten up by the instant engagement I've torn apart two pinion gears with sticky tires.

Matt....that "6th speed" will let you go faster....since your top end has decreased due to the lower gearing...

Matt, I'm so jealous of your car! Funny to think that not too long ago your car and mine were at the same state of tune!

Post up some videos as soon as you can, I'd LOVE to hear the beast!
