I need my brake pads changed and don't want to do it myself, so I called around town for quotes on pads and possibly rotor replacement. One guy said all rotors and pad and new brake pad sensor for 475, seems like a good deal but do I really need a new sensor?
Thanks.

you will if you want the light to go out on the dash. It will also tell you when you due next time as they are a one time use item

However, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, if your sensor has not gone off (i.e., there is no light on the dash advising you that your brakes are gone), you don't need to spend the money for a new sensor.

If your sensor is still intact, your odds of removing it from the old pad in one piece are about 50 \ 50. A new sensor is about $15 so most shops probably just replace it no matter what rather than having to chase around for a new sensor in the middle of a brake job.i

its actually really easy to just replace the pad sensor, prolly one of the easier things to do with the car.
