There ya go.

I'm thinking matte black/polished lip, a drop, painted reflectors and an exhaust.

That thing's hot, for srs. Congrats!

Where do I get my membership application for Alpine Atlanta???? I do have an 98 alpine/modena M3.

Now I want to find an inexpensive 89-90 model M3 to complete the garage.

Yep, you're right...because it's a vert. The LED's give the year away, too.

Are inspection I and II covered under warranty maintainence? My 04 still has 9 months left on the warranty and @ 22,000 miles is due for an Inspection I?

Yes inspections are covered under free maintenance (if your car's free maintenance has not expired). Free maintenance is for 4 years or 50k miles now. It was shorter before (3 years or 36k miles I believe) but do not remember when they extended it to 4 years or 50k miles.

Sweet, hopefully the 2004's have the 4 year version.

Now I wish I would have taken 2 days away from work and flown to Chicago and picked up the car instead of them shipping it to me....this is like waiting for Santa Claus to come.

Just curious, did you buy it sight unseen? Did you have a mechanic do a pre-purchase inspection for you?

potstar1
02-12-2008, 12:55 PM
Yeah it was bought site unseen, but I knew someone in the area and had them stop by and check it out. Only thing we have found is someone pulled up too close to a curb and scraped the bottom of the front spoiler, and normal wear on drivers seat.Plus it is still under warranty. So not too worried about buying it site unseen.

I would have never considered buying a car sight unseen until my family opened a car lot a while back (closed after father passed away) and I handled the wholesaling of cars and buying cars at auction. People I am dealing with are good people, they are having their body guy repair the bottom of the front bumper,2 scratches on the bottom from the curb and replacing a clip by wheel well on the passenger side, broken when the car was pulled up to the curb. And having pictures made of the repair and emailing me the pics before we do the paperwork.

Still a lot of nervousness but the people have a good rep. Gonna pray still because that is the last resort of a scoundrel.

That's cool. I've been shopping for an E46 M3 also, and was too nervous to expand my search beyond the local area, but having a friend that can go by and look it over makes a big difference. Having some warranty left makes a difference, too, though it might be expiring soon unless it is extended. I was a little worried about you buying a car from up north without inspecting the underside for salt damage, but I doubt an M3 Convertible was driven in the snow very often, if ever. I'm sure it was someone's second or third car. I hear you about the front spoiler/underside damage. The M3 I bought last week certainly has it's share of those scars, but it was priced accordingly. The car looks great in the photos - I'm sure it will be a lot of fun! :redspot

It was a Florida car. Dealership in Chicago bought it in Orlando at a BMW finance auction (once or twice a month all the in house finance companies like GMAC, Ford Motor Credit, BMW Finance, Honda,etc...all bring in their vehicles brought back in on lease to the sale and run them through. They do the same thing at the sale in Atlanta at Red Oak.
It has 9 months left on the warranty so I am hoping if it has any gremlins, they will appear before then. This is definately an experiment though.

Yes, 04's have the 4yr/50k maint/warranty.

Amber and I flew up to Chicago last March to pick up our wagon - nice excuse for a micro-vacation.

Yeah I really wanted to get away but I own 2 bars down in Macon and it's Daytona weekend so it will be crazy busy all week.

Quick plug, when in Macon visit Rivalry's on Northside, Macon's best neighborhood bar since 1989. And if pool is your thing, then visit The Hole Thang, with over 40 pool and snooker table, you'll find all the action you need!

We just opened an engineering office on Northside Drive just west of Tom Hill. Macon is my home town.

Is your place the one that used to be the Grey Goose many years ago, or is it in the shopping center with the Nu Way?

It is the one in the shopping center with the Nu-Way in it. They closed in April of last year, I bought it 2 days after they closed....stripped all the 20 year old funk off of it...and turned it into the "Classiest Dive in Town"......

If Macon is your home town , you prob went to some of my other bars I owned here back in the day......Cherry St Sports Bar, The Waterworks Bar & Grill, & Elizabeth Reed's Music Hall.....all 3 were on Cherry St.

I will put some pics up later today that I took when the truck arrived.......The truck looked like it had gone through every snow and rain storm between Macon and Chicago.....The M was covered in snow and dirt from the rooter to the tooter......you could not even see out of the windows......It may be voted the dirtiest M3 ever recorded on film......but nothing 10 minutes at the quarter spray and wash couldn't fix.....Detailing tomorrow.....the 40 degree weather cancelled my car washing plans for the day

Oh yeah....I owned the new M for exactly 4 hours before I was pulled over......NEW RECORD!!!!

I cleaned it up a little...it's been 40degrees here the last few days, so not too anxious to get outside and play in the water. Here are some shots around my town this morning:
Here it is in front of our famous hot dog stand in Macon, Nu Way Weiners...notice the sign says "Best Weiner in Town":
