View Full Version : Drivers front fender hit. Looking for a good body shop in glendale area.
HardcoreM 02-07-2008, 10:29 PM Well, A little over a month ago an older dude in Ford Windstar swerved from the left lane over into my lane and managed to only hit my drivers side fender. Took forever to get the insurance money due to the drivers insurance(AAA):rolleyes
I was so frustrated on the fact that the cars reselling value will drop in the future, even though the damage is minimal.:mad
Minimal meaning only a few dents in fender, absolutely nothing else.
I'll be posting up pics tomorrow for you guys to see the damage, and will take further more pictures for and if I ever decide to sell the vehicle.
Gettttttting to the point here, I'm looking for a known body shop in the SoCal area to take the care too. All recomendations are welcome.
Thanks!
HardcoreM 02-08-2008, 03:03 AM BUMP, did i post this thread in wrong section?

HardcoreM 02-08-2008, 07:25 PM Any other shops guys?
I'm looking to get quite a few estimates.
does 1100 for a fender seem right? only damage is the fender needs replacing and paint.
the estimate was done by Genes auto body in la crescenta.

$1100, it sound MORE THAN reasonable. Make sure they to do the color match with the hood and side door as well. Good luck.
HardcoreM 02-09-2008, 02:28 AM So you guys think its worth it for 1100 for a known body shop?
I mean... in the estimate, they charged for a new hood emblem to replace it, when i repaced it about a month ago, and they charged 25 minutes of labor for the replacing.:mad lol
Here are the pics of the damage. Very nerve wrecking.

HardcoreM 02-09-2008, 02:33 AM fixed the pics.
Plagueoc 02-09-2008, 04:53 AM thats hot
bawareca 02-09-2008, 12:17 PM This fender can be fixed for much cheaper and the resale value will not go down a penny.
Plagueoc 02-09-2008, 08:03 PM how so
robrez 02-09-2008, 09:01 PM Marcos in Pasadena has a good rep for collision damage. M1 in El Monte for collision and custom.
kornkid8600 02-09-2008, 09:12 PM My friend got his G35 fixed at New Tech down on San Fernando, right near Forest Lawn.
His car was rear ended they did some welding also, looks brand new. He said it drives like nothing ever happened and recommends them highly. I've visited the shop they are on top of things.
HardcoreM 02-09-2008, 10:59 PM You guys know what kind of price i should expect to pay to fix this kind of damage?
Is the estimate above(1100) too high? or reasonable?
Not to sure ill look into the shops you guys mentioned. Want to get this thing fixed ASAP.
bawareca 02-10-2008, 11:41 AM For $450 I can make it look like it never been in accident without replacing the fender. The problem with the big shops is that sometimes the job is excellent and sometimes is shitty.I am in the business for almost 20 yrs and I am doing everything by myself,so the result is great every time.
P.S. And I dont charge 1 hr to replace the emblem, and I dont charge for new emblem if the old oneis Ok:stickoutt
HardcoreM 02-10-2008, 04:56 PM Hey bawareca how so?
Gonna take off the fender and pop it out?
The problem with that is the thing that the fender is kind of bent like folded.
Hard to explain. can you tell from the pics?
bawareca 02-10-2008, 05:41 PM It's bended but it can be fixed.I can sse the extent of damage from the pics.Of course it can be replaced but it's not really necessary in my opinion.
easymoney 02-10-2008, 06:24 PM Have you tried Bistagne on the corner of Chevy Chase and Verdugo? Or that's who gave you the estimate? They're kinda pricey but good.
The-Great-328ic 02-11-2008, 01:46 AM an used fender is around $100
just have it painted and install it yourself?
HardcoreM 02-11-2008, 02:51 AM I got my the estimate from Gene's auto body in La Crescenta on the corner of montrose and rosemont.
I think 1100 is a bit pricey for what it is, however im convinced from the work i've seen that they do a good job.
Haven't really had enough time these past few days to go get estimates.
The thing with just buying a fender and painting it then installing it is that the fender would need to be blended with the hood and door, am i right?
I'm gonna try to free some time up to go and get estimates.
I miss my fender:rolleyes(look in sig)
