A friend is complaining about the steering being too loose on his new M6 he purchased compared to his Porsche. I recall hearing though, that after pushing the ///M button, it stiffens up along with many other things.. Is this right? Thanks.

Not true.
Suspension tightens, engine power increases, throttle response increases, dynamic drive (Transmission shifting) increases but steering remains the same.
Your friend experience differences in his Porsche vs. the M6 because these two cars purposes and driving design principles are simply fundamentally different.

Yeah your probably right, but it still makes sense for the steering to stiffen up when that button is pushed. i wonder if technology like that exists already on production models.

Classic check: tire pressure may be too low.
6 specific quirk: Does it have the variable ratio steering? That makes the steering feel less connected.

Not sure about the sense (Logic) of the steering stiffening as this would imply something BMW use today in the non-M machine, it called Active Steering.
Nonetheless, I press my M button often and there is no noticeable steering stiffening I am able to detect. Maybe it's the MDynamic feature you're talking about...
