Is anyone really surprised? The 135i is a 42-43k car out the door, this thing would be nearly 50k. Make the parts available and I don't think anyone is going to be too broken up, I'll take a 128i with a LSD.

Watch as all these people spend 2x on the BMW performance parts just to say its BMW Performance parts.

Yeah i was really looking forward to the tii. I don't care if it was going to be way too expensive, i cant afford ANY 1 series lol. I was just hoping to drool over it when i have to pick up parts at the stealer.

They also said there would NEVER be an M version of the Z4 when it came out. Now there are two.

This is probably their exact strategy. Tempt the hell out of people, then sell each part separately and not have to deal with producing a new model. Still making them money. Smart business wise, but sucks for the consumer.

I just wanted those seats. Screw the fact that we dont get the M-cloth option.

since M3 is now a big lazy yet powerful machine, and the 3 series is turning into family cars, the 1 series is the fun series. I was hoping the Tii would be like the new e36 M3. the 135i is good. But i still want an M badge on my car....i mean wtf were they thinking... it's an enthusiasts dream. Some people say the 1 series looks like it was made by Disney but if they could make a Tii (M power 1 series anything) maybe people would think differently and it not be labled as a chick car and it would be labled as pure sex on wheels

Read Automobile magazine June 08, page 20 - short excerpt below:

BWMs for the True Believers – why tii will become magic letters once again

Tii models will supplement M cars and In short, many of the BMW cars will have tii versions. One that emphasizes correctedness rather than absolute power. They are designed to be raw and rather loud driving machines that deliver a particularly intimate aural and tactile experience as well as higher level of dynamic connectivity. In technical terms, this means a more direct steering, firmer suspension, reduced noise insulation and a brawnier drive train.

Most versions will have a tii versions that will have emphatically sportier appearances and exceptional dynamic abilities. The 1 series tii would feature a lighter unibody and use a direct injected 2.0 liter twin turbo 4 cylinder good for 300 HP. BMW is even evaluating unique, tii-specific body styles.

The tii revival gets into full swing with the next generation models of the 1 series due in late 2011.

Who to believe? I'm going to go with the magazine on this one, since an announcement at the CAS can be turned into a, "No, we didn't really mean that, just kidding!" later. And also because I don't want my dreams of that sexy ass tii to be dashed.

BTW, if they ever made an M powered 1, what would they call it? It couldn't be the M1 for obvious reasons, so 1M like the Z4M?

There just won't be a Motorsport 1. The tii revival was their way of avoiding that. Just wait. BMW spent too much money making the letters tii fresh in our mind to not take advantage of it. The concept won't go into production because it's on the current platform. The next 1 should have a tii. Let's just hope premium isn't $9/gal by then.

+1 but maybe they will give us some sort of performance model in 2010...ie ZCP for the E46 M3 and ZHP for the 3-series.

I just want those seats and LSD. Don't need the CF hood but a CF roof would be :tits

Yeah I heard a BMW top exec in an interview confirm that there will be a tii version of the 1 series but no M version.
