ive seen numerous Porsche cars and they have NO chrome at all, even the emblems are black, do u think its sportier to remove all chrome from the BMW? or will de-chroming it make it look like a cheap Honda, since they have no chrome either. for example a black 740 with a black grille, will that look cheap compared to a chrome grille? cause most people assume you cant afford chrome thats why its black.that goes for all other chrome pieces, window trim, trunk strip, etc. is it better to remove all traces of chrome or add more to complement the stock chrome? whats the concensus on this?

For this car, I think it depends on the color. I also think there is a point of aesthetic balance. I think on some colors a little extra chrome looks very stylish. While on others, some tasteful shadowlining looks very solid. As with all things however, moderation.

Here in the USA...the e38s equipped with the Sport Pkg are just as you describe...no chrome...except for the chrome surround around the front grills. All of the exterior trim is "shadowlined" which is of the standard features on all 740i/740iL/750iL models with the Sport Pkg.

In fact, you can find the BMW part nbrs for the "shadowline" exterior trim in the BMW ETK and online part databases under BODYWORK & VEHICLE TRIM:

In fact you can get 3 types of exterior trim:
Chrome
Schwarz Glanz (gloss black - 750iL)
Schwarz (mat black - 740i/iL)
