My aluminum trim on my 1981 528i has some pretty bad water spots. It looks all cloudy and really takes away from the look of the car. Whats a good deoxidizer or another type of product that can fix it? i don't want to spend a bunch either.

Thanks in advance

Bavarian Autosports sells an Aluminum Trim Restoration Kit for $60 that works like magic.

Id probably try Klasse AIO first, just because I have it on hand I guess. I use it on all my trim and windows and it's great for removing oxidation, waterspots, etc. It removes oxidation from paint so I don't think it would have any problem doing the same from your aluminum trim.

Blue Magic Metal Polish worked reasonably well (not perfect) on my chrome exhaust tips where nothing else would even begin to clean the soot, and lots of folks in the E46 forum say it works well on the aluminum window trim.

I've used Mothers Mag and Aluminium polish on cars and bikes with great results. I've heard Blue Magic is good too - just haven't tried it myself.

As a last resort, try the Bavarian Auto stuff. There are other things (as mentioned in this thread) that work somewhat ok. But if you find yourself with some seriously stubborn spots/stains, and if u want the best shît made out there, then get the BavAuto stuff.

The old adage is almost always unfortunately true: You've got to pay to play.

Wow, thanks a lot every body. I just went on eBay and purchased some of the Meguiar's metal polish to start with. Hopefully that will work alright. Thanks again, I'll be sure to check out some of the otehr products as well.
