Anyone here? I heard these cars are selling ok, but I don't see too many on the roads, and there's not too many Z4 posts...

You think the design will undergo a speedy overhaul like the new 7 Series is having?

the front has been redesigned already. i thought i saw it a pic from the ny auto show.

Is that true about the 7 series getting an overhaul? BMW better make it mechanical as well as cosmetic. I know 2 owners who have been given new cars by BMW, both suffering constant computer problems.

I've heard that the 7 is the most complicated car ever mass built. I've heard too many tales of "my new 7 on a flatbed." So, look for some insane depreciation.

I get the feeling that if MB made any commitment at all to manual transmissions, they would be cleaning BMW's clock - even more then they already seem to be doing at each design/price segment.

In response to major criticisms about it's nasty design, particularly the Dame Edna headlights and picnic table trunk lid, BMW is performing it's fastest overhaul for a car ever. There's a thread in the General Section somewhere with a link to the Autoweek article.

But, back on topic, I wonder if the Z4 will face the same music.

They call the Z4 a major design achievement. To redesign it, would be to admit failure.

The 7 is hailed as a technological wonder, so, to redesign it is a little more ok.

Basically, I not wild about any of the headlights and their odd wrap style. Not wild about any of the rear ends, and not wild about the sides either. That leaves the interiors, and I'm not wild about them. They are so crisp and clean, they seem to reject human interaction and they make the materials look cheap, at least in all the pics I've seen. Real life may be different, but the Z4 interiors I've seen in person seem to look kinda cheap, materialwise.

If the Z4 is meeting a cool reception, the economy may have a lot to do with it. So the next 12 months will be interesting.

I guess the Z4 is the gateway drug for BMW bashing, even though I started this thread in earnest... :bawl

look how much better the Z3 looks...

the Z3 is the land shark, and the Z4 is the land salamander/guppy...

Plus the steering on that car is a joke. Talked to at least 3 friends and the first question was "what do you think about the steering?". I think it is numb and it sucks...

If this was bangle's inspiration for the 7 what does that say about him?

I think the new designs should be more than just cosmetic upgrades. Who would argue with a z4 with 350hp or a 7er with 500 ponies? The m5 has set a high standard in performance but it has the shell of an old design. BMW has to surpass performance, before looks, with the new cars and they are not doing that.

the problem here is there is a small group that bashes the Z4's design/looks despite the fact that it is selling like hotcakes and every event I attend in mine I'm swamped by compliments about what a great looking car it is. Why would Z4 owners want to hang out here and be continuously thumped by you guys? Me on the otherhand, I'm a big enough turd to tell you to take a flying fug for not knowing what you're talking about :). Anyone who thinks the Z4 is getting a redesign soon is obviously clueless about the market's acceptance of Bangle's work.

if I only had a dime for every time somebody has said "wow, this looks much better in person than I was expecting ...", the second most popular comment is "looks much better than the Z3 ever did ...", if you think I'm FOS then I welcome you to come hang out at an event with me sometime. I've never received more attention & compliments from any other vehicle I've ever owned than my Z4

Yeah, but yours is hotted up! ;)

I don't think we bash, we may be coming to grips with all of Bangle's designs, and obviously there are mixed emotions.

If everyone thought all of Bangle's designs were super great, more people would say so. Design is subjective. I don't think it's something you tell someone to f*** off over, because, there's no right answer, unlike something technical or specification based. Nobody is bashing the Z4 performance, many would love the extra rigidity and more sophisticated suspension. Most comments are on the design, which, is seemingly a bit of love it or leave it.

I started this thread seriously wondering where the Z4 folks were. If 10 Z4 people were talking about their cars, I don't think some spiteful Z3 owner is gonna jump in there and talk crap. Fact is, there's not 10 Z4 people having threads, and I don't think there's anyway a claim can be made that the environment on Bf.c or in the Z3/Z4 forum in particular is hostile. :D

Its just like women....

some women are drop dead gorgeous and couldn't resemble a shadow of anything unattractive if they wanted...

While others are perfectly pretty, but somehow their beauty doesn't transcend well into the 2D world, un-photogenic if you will;)

and yet others are just plain ugly....

Until I examine the Z4 in person I won't be able make my final decision:devillook

I waver back and forth. There are some elements I like and others I don't care for. I've posted an entire thread full of photoshopped pictures of the Z4 in an effort to sway more interest in the car. If there's any bad-mouthing from me, it's all been tongue and cheek wth the understanding that my car is like the older actress getting bumped for the younger, fresher flavor of the decade.

No harm intended...

FYI - there's a nice looking Z4 over at the G-Power website.

Can you post that thread with all the photoshopped images?
And also, the g-power website?

Thanks :D

Nice wheels on that Z4, Phil...

okay I feel real stupid.... what did they do to the Gpower?

besides wheels I don't see anything.:dunno

1st I'd clear out those front dopey lights.... then tone down that big ole Badge on the side.. then get a front air dam... I think syling-wise that'd make a huge difference..

I would perhaps sell, if other options became more valuable to me. The G-Power Z4 is lowered with some nicer rims. I always thought that rims make the looks of the car and this is just one case in point for me. The ACS Z4 looks decent as well.

Like I said, the pendulum swings back and forth with me on the Z4.
