Im thinking about clearcoating my rims.
I just dont want to clear it,and have trapped yukkies underneath pop up after a few days leading me to want to sand the clear off or something.

Is this a good idea?

I use mothers wheel polish and it comes out ok.
But I hate to have to clean them so often.

Im thinking if I clear them once polished,I can just wipe them down nice and easy/
Am I illussional?:(

Clean them, once you are satisfied use a chemical cleaner (DuPont's Prepsol or Zaino Z-AIO, etc) and then clear coat them with multiple thin coats. Use a polymer selant and then all you'll need to maintain the finish is a car wash concentrate

A clear would behave jsut like car paint. Regular wash.

Just keep in mind that the clear will dull the shine a bit.

What's a good clearcoat that will adhere well to polished wheels? I have yet to find one.
I have polished aluminum wheel lip's, is there a sealant out there that you can apply every 6months or so. The oxidation from the winter has killed the lips and I will have to re-polish them come spring.
Sorry, didn't mean to HJ the OP thread.
