View Full Version : S52, transmission, VF-engineering SC, exhaust, others
nmlss2006 02-03-2008, 07:58 PM A swap into an E30 simply didn't happen, so the following parts are for sale:
- S52US w/transmission, SOLD.
- VF-engineering supercharger kit for above engine, SOLD.
- Appropriate DME (413, maroon label) to installed the above items in E30. Will also work for people wanting to do the S52-OBD1 thing (with or without compressor) for increased performance, I am told. $250.
I'll take offers in PM, with pictures to come as they are requested.
I am willing to ship everything, buyer pays shipping, though I'll give priority to local sales.
bluemoon2222 02-03-2008, 08:35 PM pricing please.

GG///M3 02-03-2008, 11:11 PM pricing on the vf kit?
cragg56 02-03-2008, 11:14 PM The OP sent me a PM with this info
All prices are what I paid for the parts:
LTW flywheel + clutch: $750
Trans + motor $3600 ... I guess I could do something like $2900 + $800 for the separate parts?
VF supercharger: I paid $4500, I'll take $4200 for it as-is.
nmlss2006 02-07-2008, 10:41 PM Back to the top... other than pricing, is there anything anyone needs? I'm not getting many bites here.
redlinedbimmer 02-07-2008, 11:21 PM just lettin you know 800 is almost double what most trans go for (ZFs)
nmlss2006 02-08-2008, 12:35 AM Thanks for the pointer. I really didn't know how to divide engine and transmission - honestly I'd really rather sell them as a unit.
nmlss2006 02-12-2008, 04:19 PM It's been five days, back up to the top. My posts are feeling lonely here...
bkelsey86 02-12-2008, 07:25 PM will you take 600 for the clutch and flywheel?
nmlss2006 02-13-2008, 03:47 PM bkelsey86, you have PM
nmlss2006 02-18-2008, 12:43 PM Sale pending on the flywheel, make me reasonable offers for the rest!
nmlss2006 02-26-2008, 10:08 PM Folks, an S52 sold for $3400 very recently and I can't even get replies on my post? I'm sad! What am I doing wrong?
myrontabagoboy 02-26-2008, 11:54 PM interested in flywheel & clutch live in philly can pick up call me at 215-917-7893
Mstngcobr761 02-27-2008, 01:50 PM thats a high price for that amount of miles...
nmlss2006 02-28-2008, 12:34 PM Given what has been for sale lately? I'm not sure. Someone sold an engine with a race clutch and more miles for $3400. Someone was/is asking $3800 for an engine with 99kmi. Someone else yet is asking $3500 for an engine which had the head gasket put back to normal because it used to be supercharged. On ebay, $3500 gets you a mass of pieces that may or may not be an engine - and honestly, that's where I'm headed at this point. The curious thing, at least people there are getting replies. I'm not. Oh well, I'll go take pictures and redo the post.
Further example of what I'm talking about: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=872584
nmlss2006 03-04-2008, 11:15 AM Back up top.. I only need the two large items gone now and I will entertain REASONABLE offers.
nmlss2006 03-09-2008, 01:18 PM And up again! I'll have S52 compression numbers and pictures tomorrow.
IraSummers 03-09-2008, 05:31 PM REMOVED...Good Luck with the sale...
nmlss2006 03-10-2008, 07:07 PM Well, in that same thread, someone mentioned paying 4200 for his engine. And personally, I don't know about you, but I'd think long and hard about an S52 which has been rebuilt at 130kmi, if that is indeed the case - and I would ask by whom it was rebuilt.
Plus, that was not the only engine sold: look at the others.
I'll be honest: I don't need to sell it. Worse comes to worse, I'll stick it in one of the (several) E30s I have. With that said, I did say I will entertain offers.
One thing I do not understand: you said the one on car-part.com has 56kmi for $3400. Apart from the opportunity of perhaps communicating that via PM, like for the original poster, which I would have appreciated, it's all well and good, but I am not asking $1000 more, I am asking $200 more.
Anyways: pictures are above, compression numbers are delayed until tomorrow but they're on the way.

I was looking at the 4200 when I said 1000 less. From how many times you bumped your own add, it seemed like you were rather motivated to sell. The photo looks nice, but it is the same one duplicated 3 times. I will remove my original post to help you sell. Thanks, I'll keep watching though.
bluemoon2222 03-10-2008, 10:00 PM Does the sc come with software and all the other fun stuff to get the car running? PM me
nmlss2006 03-11-2008, 10:38 AM Ooops. Sorry, I fixed the photo links. And Ira, I do appreciate the input, we'll see where this goes. Bluemoon, you have PM!
nmlss2006 03-13-2008, 03:04 PM Compression numbers are here. Keep in mind, these are COLD compression numbers with oil squirted in the cylinders to avoid scoring the bores.
Cyl 1: 210
Cyl 2: 206
Cyl 3: 210
Cyl 4: 203
Cyl 5: 211
Cyl 6: 209
This is a <3.8% variation across the board, which has been confirmed as very desireable. Let the offers come in :).
carreraboy911 03-13-2008, 03:24 PM Does the sc come with software and all the other fun stuff to get the car running? PM me
+1 I'd like to know that as well
nmlss2006 03-13-2008, 03:33 PM Yes it does: the SC kit comes from VF-engineering and is complete with all the hoses and adapters, the higher capacity injectors and the software. It is currently configured for an OBD I swap in an E30, but I talked to VF and I can deliver it in OBD II form as well.
More precisely, from VF-engineering's site:
http://www.vf-engineering.com/index.php?v=/kit_bmw_e36_m3.php
VF chose to mount the Vortech supercharger with an in-house CNC machined aluminum bracket system. The unit is positioned in line with the original serpentine belt which is replaced with a longer OEM belt. The key to this design is that the OEM active-spring belt tensioner remains fully functional and eliminates belt slip or the need to manually tension the belt. The supercharger air ducts are custom molded in-house from plastic to give an OEM appearance, quality and fit. The incorporated Bosch boost overrun system is designed for smooth off-throttle cruising and deceleration with clean emissions. The crankcase ventilation sytem is designed to cope with positive pressure and high flow OEM injectors are supplied to fit as direct replacements without modification to the injector rail. A removable plastic air box is provided with the K&N induction filter for those who use their vehicles in persistently wet climates. The VF supercharger system remains fully OBD2 compliant and is supported by a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty on the product only. Installation can be performed in approximately 8 hours and is non-intrusive, allowing it to be fully reversible.
Contents:
• GIAC custom tuned stage 1 software
• RPM limiter increased to 7000 rpm
• Soft rev limiters and top speed governor removed
• Vortech V2 Super Quite SC trim polished supercharger
• 3 year unlimited mileage limited product warranty

carreraboy911, I believe you and ZM Blue devil had a conversation about one of my cars yesterday or today.

carreraboy911, I believe you and ZM Blue devil had a conversation about one of my cars yesterday or today.
if you sell it to a obd2 guy I'll take the dipstick tube since it can't be used in a obd2 car. bump
nmlss2006 03-14-2008, 01:25 PM I could be mistaken but I don't think it comes with a dipstick tube.
sideshow 03-16-2008, 12:42 PM I don't know the exact difference between the obd1 and obd2 vf kits but I have VF's obd1 software (an actual eprom chip). Just mentioning this if it helps you (and me) sell the kit. As far as software on the OBD2 kit, I thought you have to send your DME to VF for them to flash it.
DubSport 03-16-2008, 01:51 PM ^ you are right, and it costs $1000 for the software flash...
nmlss2006 03-16-2008, 11:25 PM I explicitly asked VF what it would take if I changed my mind. They said they could swap my kit back to OBD II if necessary for a nominal fee: I most certainly do not expect $1000, I can have custom software installed for less - with an onsite programmer.
Viperian86 03-18-2008, 12:31 AM Very interested in the trans.
nmlss2006 03-18-2008, 10:29 AM You have PM!
nmlss2006 03-18-2008, 03:22 PM Now on ebay, link in first post.
nmlss2006 03-20-2008, 03:41 PM Less than 24 hours left. SC not on ebay, I'll keep it if I don't get a good offer.
Less than 24 hours left. SC not on ebay, I'll keep it if I don't get a good offer.
Wow, did you intentionally put it up without a reserve?
nmlss2006 03-20-2008, 05:47 PM Yes, if I can't get interest in a month and a half of posting it around the forums, I'm doing something wrong, so I figured it might as well just go.
nmlss2006 03-26-2008, 04:33 PM Ebay didn't work, I still have the SC kit AND the engine+trans. Make me offers folks, I want this stuff gone.
Shifty24 03-29-2008, 11:37 PM Pm'd
Altezza01 03-30-2008, 09:37 AM Do you have an e36 M3 midpipe?
nmlss2006 03-30-2008, 05:34 PM Sorry, the one I have I am keeping for now.
nmlss2006 04-02-2008, 09:09 PM Engine back on ebay. Less than 24 hours to go!
putyoursoxon 04-02-2008, 10:44 PM A swap into an E30 simply didn't happen, so the following parts are for sale:
- S52US w/transmission, 114k mi, has been sitting for the past one-and-a-half years in my garage, known good compression, complete from MAF to exhaust headers inclusive. Wiring loom included and uncut. $3600.
Compression numbers are here. Keep in mind, these are COLD compression numbers with oil squirted in the cylinders to avoid scoring the bores.

- VF-engineering supercharger kit for above engine, still in VF boxes. M coupe pulley to fit E30s and OBD1 manifold adapter, can be swapped to the regular ones for a nominal fee (I can even do it). $4200.
- Appropriate DME (413, maroon label) to installed the above items in E30. Will also work for people wanting to do the S52-OBD1 thing (with or without compressor) for increased performance, I am told. $250.
- E34 oil pan + pickup for M5x/S5x, useful for E30 conversions. Sold.
- UUC lightweight flywheel + E34 M5 clutch, bought off bimmerforums as 'used for 500 miles'. Was probably used for less than 50, actually. Looks new. Sold.
- MY95 E36 M3 exhaust, *cat included*, which I had bought intending to use it with the above engine. IIRC the guy selling it said it had ~80kmi. No rattles, no rust. Kept for other swap.
I'll take offers in PM, with pictures to come as they are requested.
I am willing to ship everything, buyer pays shipping, though I'll give priority to local sales.
