I just test drove an 08 X5 3.0 and an 08 X5 4.8. The 3.0 was OK. Nice vehicle but nothing distinctive or special and definitely a step down if you are used to a reasonably sporty BMW car. Practical and AWD, though. Maybe with sport package it would have at least handled reasonably well.

Then I took a 4.8 with sport package home for the night and found it to be pretty entertaining rather than just OK. Sport also gets the blacked out trim, which looks better and 19 inch wheels instead of 18s (20s are a further $900 option but no good in the snow). I think the 08 X5 4.8 sport is about as good as an SUV gets. We ended up buying one and it should arrive in a couple of weeks.

I think its just bad photography. That car is most likely Imola Red. His photo skills suck bad. Everything is washed out.
