Are there any 3 series diecast model cars out there? Just wondering as I have a nice 1/38 scale BMW Z8 made by Maisto that I picked up at Wal Mart a few years ago..

It's currently sitting in my office and has drawn a lot of attention from people who happen to wander in. I tell them that's my "dream car" and they laugh...but it would be cool to have a 335i diecast miniature and be able to say that's my ride!

I've seen larger scale models in dealerships but they cost an arm & a leg!

I've been looking for the same thing with no luck yet.

I have a nice 1/18 Maisto of my previous car ('02 C230) and even in the right color.

Please keep us posted if you find any!!

Thanks!

Looks like mintmodels has the best selection. They have a few E9x models on there. They have a Kyosho 1:18 E90 in Montego Blue which is the closest I've found to my car yet. Anyone know how the quality of Kyosho compares to Maisto?

I just ordered mine from

bmw-online.com (Under accessories and gifts)

I ordered two of them to hold me over until my car gets here. I recommend the 1:18 model as its much more detailed. They have a very good selection of diecast models on there.

Sweet! Thanks for the info. Looks like they have a 1:18 E90 in Sparkling Graphite just like my baby. I could have sworn I looked at the BMW catalog before and they didn't have one.:rolleyes Score this time though!

I got one for Christmas. :) My coupe is Titanium Silver and my model is Space Gray but its still is nice. I think it was order off the BMW site. The quality is very good.

They may only make Space Gray for now, I'm not sure. I got one a few days after I picked up my new car. It came as a gift from the salesman. Personally - as much as I like the model - I would have preferred a couple dollars instead.

I have seen several sources for these models except I can't find my E92 in Montego with black interior. There must be a big market waiting to be tapped by some enterprising soul who could match the model to the owners car.

When I showed my "baby" to my Dentist he said go out front when we're done. There was his "baby", a 2007 M6 Coupe, Indianapolis Red with black.

Next visit, I took in a book of BMW miniatures and suggested he might want to pick up the model for his office. He said thanks, but his CA gave him one when he picked up his car. Nice move on his part.

All I got was a hearty handshake from my CA. But then again, I didn't get an M6

On the site they had three colors available. If the gift is coming out of his pocket it is nice. They are about $75 on the site. If the dealership gives them out to buyers they are likely buying them cheaper then retail.

Yeah, the CA probably made a good bit more off the $100k+ M6 than a $40k+ 335. Still would've been nice to get the model though! I got what you got, a nice hearty handshake (and free mats).

My only complaint is that the 3 Series Sedan model doesn't have dual exhaust.

OT, but possibly of interest....

Here is a video of BMW models being manufactuered by Herpa Miniaturmodelle GmbH.

Hadn't noticed that. They are obviously based on the '06 E90's. That stinks...wonder if they'll bother to update them?

my dealer has tons of 1/18 3 series models. They are also in the accessories catalog. I even got a 335i coupe in my crimson red. Contact Davis Automotive in Solon, Ohio. Good luck

Kyosho makes a 335 convertible but their E90 and E92 are 330.

I'm surprised Hot Wheels doesn't have a 3 series...

Since I work with RC cars here's what I found for 3-series

Nice race version, but you can leave the stickers off to make it more of a street version.

I was able to pick up a 1:18 Kyosho Titanium Silver '06 330i and a 325i Touring for the correct wheels. When I get the time, I'll paint it myself. I also contacted Kyosho directly to see if I could get a custom car as they do sell the Touring in my color, but they don't do custom cars.

I'm surprised that Maisto or some of the diecast modelers that sell their stuff in places like Wal mart & Target don't have BMWs represented..

Seems like Muscle Cars are very common and Corvettes are everywhere..

I did find a cool Mini Cooper though by Maisto at a Toys R Us of all places...

I got one from Bmw, It looked like the E92 335 with the sport package wheels. After I took it out of the packaging it only had the single exhaust. So far I am the only one at home that has noticed so I guess it really does not matter. The model is high quality and nicely detailed.
