I'm really thinking of Turbocharging my 1992 325is. Of course I'm going with AA for the Turbo. Though I have some questions first. I don't think the Stage I is enough power for me. What is the Stage 1 1/2 and what is the power output. I know I don't have the Vanos, so does that cause a big or small problem. My next question is should i just forget about the 325is engine and do a M3 engine, tranny , Turbo Stage II+ and all the goodies. I know that the cost is going to be high somewhere around the price of a nice new car. But it is cheaper than getting a 95 M3 and Turbocharging it. SO, I'm just looking for some advice from you guys on what to do.

My last question for you Turbo guys, I just heard an Eclipse Turbo spool-up beside me and I loved the sound that it made. That "shhhhwwww" sound. Does your cars turbo spool-up sound loud from the outside aswell as the inside. Hell it was like hearing the voice of god it was that nice. Please give me reasons to spend all this money.

Isn't the AA Turbocharger located in the drive side area of the engine? My friend who has a 99 Civic, just ordered a Greddy Turbo kit. I asked him how much it costs and he said $1500. The car will only do mid-13s in the 1/4 mile. It just made me realize how much AA has put in the kit and how you get what you pay for. Is anyone going to the HIN in York on the 18th that has a Turbo. I would like to check it out if that is OK.

I like that intake...since it seems to be well hidden from hot engine air. Let me know. Thanks, N8.

Its tricky!!:D The intake (filter) is behind the passanger side fog lamp. With a snorkle for cold air.

The rims are BBS CH 19" . I run 235 35 19 Yoko AVS Sports.

Do you guys have any problems that come up persistently? My friend has a turbo on his civic and is always in the shop because something is breaking or leaking. I cant afford that hassle... especially with AA being pretty far from me. Not the local 15min drive-

This guy wants to put 400 hp engine in a car designed for 169 hp. Now, unless you upgrage everything all at one time, things are going to break. The drive shaft, the diff, the half axles, gear box, clutch, etc, etc. Yes, expect a lot of things to break unless you change everything out all at the same time. Go from a 325 to a M3 turbo engine will require a lot of upgrade to both drive line, chasis, and brakes. Other wise, you are looking at trouble in a very short time. I've consider upgrading to the AA kit but I am not ready for the rest of the parts to go yet. So, I'm just going to have as much fun with my baby as possible.

wow, look at those twin turbos! anyway. turbobmw went to the 2.8L, which may be a cheap way for you to go. not sure how many miles your 2.5L has, but you could swap in some low compression pistons into a 2.8L if you were installing a new engine.

Chris.. I might go to HIN but not sure.. I felt ripped off at $40.00 just to walk through the door.

Problem is, you can't leave or you won't get back in, so it's hard to meet. Plus, every cop in a hundred miles is around, so pretty hard to try the turbo out anyway.

Your welcome, if you want, to drive up here and go for a drive. It's a little more than an hour from Harrisburg. Some hot chicks here too (Penn State).

If I was't married I would be there.

Check out a few pics that I took of some nice girls when my friend borrowed my car for the car show.

I went club and saw Joyce & Danielle there spent the whole night with them 4 hours and her 3 other friends and Joyce sister.

AA is a little too expensive for me.. Well price range I can get a better turbo system and including engine build up for around 11g's

AA just sells the kit for 10K. I to have a 1992 325is.. With a complete 3.2L M swap so that was a really big improvement from stock. My plans are to do a stand-alone system running about 22psi. Goal is 450-500 wrhp. 11k price range

Let me know if your are really interested, I could provide you alot of information that i'm currently looking into. If you do a Turbo system, why not do it right.

There is a guy here with the 92 Non-Vanos engine that has put almost 100k on his Turbo Kit.

A well designed turbo kit should give you no problems at all, assuming its installed properly and you dont beat the crap out of it everyday. No real need to upgrade the tranny line, the ZF tranny on the M3's are pretty damn strong to begin with. I'm not quite sure about the 6-speed getrags but from what I here, its not as durable as components are a little small to fit the extra gear. Don't even bother with the getrags from the Non-M 3er's. I've heard them blowing up quite a few times when the car becomes FIed. The differential on the M3s are equally as durable. The weak part of the M3's when you up the power is the driveshaft.

I dont mind that though, I'd rather have a ripped driveshaft than a blown diff.
The driveshaft can usually be remedied though, alot of people blow them because they dont realize their rear subframe bushings, and RTABS, rsms, etc are blown, causing massive wheelhop leading to the driveshaft blowing up. I wouldn't recommend upgrade the driveshaft really, as like I said, its cheaper to replace then a diff or tranny.

You can get a much cheaper turbo kit than AA with exact if not better quality parts if you part together the kit and do the labor yourself. But you have to know what the heck your doing of course. Another big question if you do it yourself, is who will do the software. Unless your Vick Sias, NickG, or someone like them, you're usually going have to find someone with the skills to tune your car.

Dont go cheap on the software, its argueably the most important part of the turbo kit.

Hope that helps,

Rich
