View Full Version : whats the best way to deal with faded parcel shelf of e36m3?

I have a cosmos black on black e36M3 sedan and my rear "parcel shelf" were the speakers are is soo sun burnt that is is now light grey in color....

is there a cheap way to make it black again?

is the only option to get it recovered?

Fabric store and get to glueing!

or get some carpet dye, like VHT or something

seems easy enough to remove and redo by yourself
i had mine done at the same time as i got the headliner done, wasnt too much more expensive.

buy an aerosol can of Black carpet paint. Some Auto parts carry them as well as upholstery shops. Ive used SEM brand with no problems.

DIY on such a cheap used product is completely counter productive. I don't know if you've noticed recently, but m3's are being totaled every month. People part these things out all of the time, sometimes even locally. Dying, painting or any form of restoration is completely out of the question in my opinion.

yeah, but i bet a lot of those wrecked e36s in those junkyards have fading rear shelfs as well; especially if they had the rear window blown off during an accident.
