It's time for an auto DD. :biglaughb John V 01-30-2008, 06:08 PM ;) I'm almost 30. It's time for an auto DD. :biglaughb YOU'RE almost 30? I turn 30 in a month and a half, pal. I'M almost 30. You're like... almost 25 or something. :stickoutt p.s. fix my altima. gsober 01-30-2008, 07:02 PM still a dork ohnoes 01-30-2008, 07:24 PM The interior is meh, but how fast are those things? Would be a decent, albeit gas-guzzling, DD if they're quick. John V 01-30-2008, 07:43 PM SUV as DD = :vomit: ohnoes 01-30-2008, 08:08 PM SUV as DD = :vomit: It's not like you really need an exciting car to travel the 495 and the city... magnetic1 01-30-2008, 10:15 PM It's not like you really need an exciting car to travel the 495 and the city... My 230k mile 1995 Integra LS is exciting enough... blocking traffic that is. :lol I hate driving my Denali around when I have to. John V 01-31-2008, 08:33 AM It's not like you really need an exciting car to travel the 495 and the city... I never said it had to be exciting. SUVs just suck to drive. Pino 01-31-2008, 08:44 AM Why not get a wagon with some grunt? e39 540iT? Project e34 5**iT? Im trying to find the pic of the spec-e30 car being towed by the e30 s52 wagon :az John V 01-31-2008, 09:00 AM Alex Shchipkov tows his DSP E30 325 using an e30 wagon that I believe has an S50/S52 in it. Can't find any pics of the wagon on the web http://www.teamsoloracer.com/alex_main_3.jpg ohnoes 01-31-2008, 03:31 PM I never said it had to be exciting. SUVs just suck to drive. Not a Cayenne Turbo or X5 4.8. :buttrock Teuton 01-31-2008, 04:16 PM They have their pluses. Sure they aren't exciting to drive in the city but at 5mph or stop and go traffic what is? They typically have a fairly plush ride, they're very quite and comfortable. I certainly don't mind driving mine to work everyday. Especially when someone dings me or leaves a mark on my bumper, I could careless as it's a beater. I'd feel quite differently if the VW where dinged or damaged in the same manner. The real downside is fuel economy. SpeedTheory 01-31-2008, 04:31 PM Love the new ride, Pete! And Doby too...... John V 01-31-2008, 06:34 PM Not a Cayenne Turbo or X5 4.8. :buttrock The best SUV still sucks to drive compared to a just average car. I'd take a 540i wagon over either of those beasts. ohnoes 01-31-2008, 07:42 PM The best SUV still sucks to drive compared to a just average car. I'd take a 540i wagon over either of those beasts. I wouldn't. Have you driven an X5? Supposedly they are uncannily car-like. I still have yet to drive one, but I've heard this from a TON of owners. And the X5 4.8i is pretty darn quick. Cayenne Turbo is even faster... those things are just kind of ugly, though. I agree, though, E39 540iTs are awesome. It's just a shame they only brought them over to the States with an autotragic. vjlax18 01-31-2008, 09:05 PM It fucking rocks and I love it. Bahnbaum 01-31-2008, 09:19 PM It fucking rocks and I love it. Alex NoSoup4U 01-31-2008, 09:40 PM YOU'RE almost 30? I turn 30 in a month and a half, pal. I'M almost 30. You're like... almost 25 or something. :stickoutt p.s. fix my altima. See -- getting older forces you to re-prioritize. Driving a manual in this traffic congestion becomes more of a hassle. I-66, even on the weekends, becomes a parking lot. SUV's are nice and I liked my X5 with sport. Handled really well. However, it sucked gas -- around $65+ per fillup, easily. I averaged about 17 mpg in mixed driving. I really like the way the new tahoe looks - interior and exterior. The touring is also nice that I had. I bet I had more cargo room in the touring than in the X5. X5's cargo capacity is pathetic. I know Wonger's Denali is very nice and has a crapload of room. Congrats on purchase ... ohnoes 01-31-2008, 11:44 PM . . . I averaged about 17 mpg in mixed driving. I really like the way the new tahoe looks - interior and exterior . . . Um, dude, I get that with my M3. Well, 17.8 currently. :help NoSoup4U 02-01-2008, 12:03 AM Um, dude, I get that with my M3. Well, 17.8 currently. :help If I drove the X5 like you drive the M3, I am fairly certain I would be getting around 14-15 easily. The V8 engine sucks gas with the X5's weight. I looked at the Cayenne S before getting the X5; but, most of those owners were getting around 12 mpg. John V 02-01-2008, 07:39 AM See -- getting older forces you to re-prioritize. Driving a manual in this traffic congestion becomes more of a hassle. I-66, even on the weekends, becomes a parking lot. You don't have to get an SUV to get an automatic trans. Teuton 02-01-2008, 09:44 AM Love the new ride, Pete! And Doby too...... Thanks. It's lots of fun when I do drive it. I wish it wasn't as stock as it is but oh well. schosports 02-01-2008, 10:31 AM Love the new ride, Pete! And Doby too......Yeah Pete, another nice car. NoSoup4U 02-01-2008, 10:43 AM You don't have to get an SUV to get an automatic trans. Very true; I was just referring to the comment where someone said get a touring that is manual would be ultimate. More than 1/2 of my cars are now automatic. Charisma 02-01-2008, 12:36 PM Mustang and E30 were never including. They are both paid for and are my projects for the next 20 or so years... POOR! |
