As rediculous as this may sound, I am considering both. I haven't seen the 1 in person yet, but based on the pics I have seen of it, I am not that excited about it. It is too tall and narrow and front view shows oval shaped headlight casings (for lack of the proper terms). Can you say Taurus?

I read that the 1 was going to be shaped like that and was going to reserve judgment until I actually saw the car in the raw (the car). But there is a post on this site with comparos of the 1 with the 335. And while I am not a fan of the new Bangle look, I much prefer the look of the 3 over the 1.

As between the 1 and 3 what matters most is the ultimate driving experience and I have to believe the 1 wins.

As to the Camaro and the 1, I love the look of the new C. My first car out of college was a 74 midnight blue with black vinyl interior (no air) with a four on the floor, small block V-8. I loved that car, but the shifter kept getting stuck in one of the gears about once a month. A little rubber grommet was all that was holding the shifter in place and GM wouldn't fix it with a metal one. The last straw was when I got stuck in reverse 50 miles from home. Good bye Camaro. But I loved that car. But like the 1, I want to see it in person as well. So in the mean time I have my eyes on a DTS (don't ask).

I am in a similar predicament. My choices now are the 135, the Evo, and the Challenger. Leaving the Evo out of the consideration. I'm not sure there are two cars more different than the Challenger and the 135. But I really like both. I love the muscle, the power, and the look of the Challenger. But I also like the the refinement, performance, and design of the 135. I suppose I will just have to test drive them and decide.

Good luck making your decision!

The Challenger does look promising, but it's going to start at 40K isn't it? I'd rather have a Camaro with a supercharger myself.

Still waiting to test drive the 135i though....

Do you want to go fast or do you want to go fast in something that is fun to drive and handles well?

To elaborate, do you choose to be:

Grouped in with Mullets, 80's rock bands, bad hair and fat ugly women.

Or

Grouped in with Lederhosen, trance music, and hairy women.

Pick your poison! :lol

As a non-BMW owner on a BMW forum, I elected not to go there. I'm glad it came out though.

While I have leased three Bimmers, I have always been a GM man. Don't get me wrong. The Bimmers were great, but the currnet interation of 3 has gotten away from its roots and is bloated in comparison to my last one.

I have to admit tho, the Challenger is also an attractive option, but at what price point?

I had the coolest Uncle when I was a kid. My Uncle Paul owned every cool car (at least in my opinion), but he couldn't afford the top of the line. He always bought the lesser beast.

I remember he bought one of the original Mustangs. A red on red convertible with a black top. But he bought the 260. I thought a stang wasn't a stang without the 289.

Then there was the 63 dark blue on powder blue vinal interior Pontiac. But it was the Catilina, not the Bonneville. Finally he had a purple Challenger, but it had a four banger in it. I drove that one, but was too young for the other two.

Finally there was the 68 VW Bug. The most fun car I ever drove to that point in my life. Was just like driving a go cart.

So I will just wait and see what these vehicles look and drive like and cost. I want the one that produces the most smiles/mile.

have you been quoted any pricing on the camaro?

i dont feel that the 135 is a good value, not at all.

chances are the camaro's are going to base in the mid 20's and creep to low to mid 30's when fully equipped, but will carry a dealer addendum premium of $5k for the first few months, if not more.

i think the camaro looks awesome, they have certainly always been the best performance car for the money(new car price for new car price) although i dont think i would ever own one, this new one looks very promising...

I believe it depends on your perspective and what you want -- from my point of reference, the 135I looks like a great buy. I spend about 40+ days instructing/driving on road courses. I generally track a 911; but, have had the opportunity to drive lots of cars including a highly prepared R32. I have been looking for a car to replace the Boxster as my daily driver and could on rare occassions be used on the track. The principal down-side of the Boxster as a daily driver has been limited visibility. So another requirement was a big 'green-house.' I have always been a fan of the Camaro and the tow vehicle is an Avalanche. I think the 09 Camaro looks great with the exception of the dash. What is going on there?

If the price of the new Camaro is anything like the bargain that the old one was, I would get that. The last couple years they made Camaros, a Z28 was just over $21,000 and the SS package added like $4,000. So for about $25,000 you could have a car that would run high 12's, low 13's. Add goodies like leather and premium sound and you would still be under $30,000.

well since i recently sold my weekend car, i too am in the market. My thinking is to buy the 135i and enjoy it and when the Camaro arrives in Feb 09, which is still far off.. take a test drive in the SS and see if it is worth getting or passing on. The main reasons i liked my previous Fbody was the fact it had T-tops (i really miss the Ttops).. seeing that this 5th gen does not have that option makes it less appealing, not to mention its weight factor. I believe the 135 will be my perfect choice, its going to be a aftermarkets dream car so i am not worried on the performance side.

but the camaro is going to be a camaro...it's aftermarket potential will be bat-shit-insane... seriously, if you had a team of like 8 chimps, and gave them either a mustang or camaro, they could pump out a 10/11 car with a set of plastic tools. That said, the sheer simplicity in modifying a mustang or camaro into a raw beast is what turns me away from them. Even though your pic does make me miss doing the 100 dollar bill trick...then pumping the brakes when someone would try to push off the seat with one hand...but still...WS6=cheap raw power nasty in your face grunt force. I leave that to the mid life crisis guys and old realtor ladies to wear in for our next gen of 16-20 year olds to rock out in. 1 wins overall in my book.

I’ve been planning on buying a new Camaro in ’09, but after seeing spy shots of the interior I’m reconsidering. The 135 has come to the top of my very short list, but I still won’t be buying one until ’09.

I'll just post what I posted in the other Maro vs 1 thread :)

As an LS1 owner, see sig:

It'll be a bit like which is better, chocolate or vanilla ice cream, both have merts.

As for me though, I've modded the crap out of my Hawk (Shocks, springs, sways, relocs, sub frams, pan hard and LCAs) and she STILL feels like a pig :( Sure it's great going in a straight line.. but the 'fun' factor just isn't there compared to the M3. So I'd definitely have to side w/ the 135i :)

-edit, and I'm F'N SICK of all the retro cars the size of land yachts.... :sigh:
