View Full Version : 88 need new o2 sensor, where to buy it?? Eliezer 01-29-2008, 10:08 PM My car have the check engine light on, I check the code (#2), Bad o2 sensor, where is the best palce to get a new one?? should i get this oem part or just a bosch replacement will work?? Thanks in advance :help Layne 01-29-2008, 11:05 PM Any bosch is fine with the same number of wires on it. Eliezer 01-29-2008, 11:08 PM the 635 uses 4 wires sensor?? CW6er 01-30-2008, 12:53 AM The early cars used a 1 or 2 wire unheated O2 sensor on the down pipe close to the header. It was later changed to a heated 3 wire and moved to just in front of the Cat under the car and came at first with a short cord that connected under the car and was later changed to a long cord that connected at the back manifold brace. In '88 they went to a 4 wire heated O2 sensor, so you will need to know your build date. Go to: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do?vin=&kind=P&series=E24&body=Cou&arch=1 and enter your VIN number or your model, year and build date and look up the exhaust to get the correct O2 part number, and then do a parts search at AutoHausAZ.com (http://AutoHausAZ.com) and at SteveHaygood.com/products.htm (http://SteveHaygood.com/products.htm) (look under fuel injection) Eliezer 01-30-2008, 03:35 PM i just got a bosch from pep boys, here in PR the cost was $59 4 wires. Thanks Layne 01-30-2008, 04:11 PM They aren't one bit cheaper here. I surprised there isn't more mark-up on the island. I just bought the same one for mine. It's not original to my car, so I asked for one for a 96 mazda miata since I knew they had the 4 wire. Thanks Are these the "universal" that you have to splice in? 88m53453 01-30-2008, 08:59 PM that would be the 4 wire splice in deal, and 59 is a bit high even, but good for an island price for sure Eliezer 01-30-2008, 10:16 PM yes it is the universal 4 wire slice bosch replacement. I know in autohaus was $74 the one with the plug, but I said what the hell, I got it today:redspot, I will put it tomorrow. Let you know any change in the car when I put it in the car tomorrow:buttrock. mosportgreen66 01-31-2008, 05:25 PM automobile solutions, steve haygood! Layne 01-31-2008, 07:01 PM Have you checked the number of wires on you 89, mine has 3 wires. It wouldn't really matter, the 4th is just another ground. It has seperate grounds for the signal and heater, where the 3 wire shares them. |
