G'Day,

Recently I've been seeing a Calypso 540i here and there around town, and I believe they may be an enthusiast as the car's got Style 65's and an ///M badge placed just before the 540i ( to make ///M540i).

I was wondering what I should include in a little recruitment letter to put under a windscreen wiper.

///M540? The guy might get flamed here if it's not a real "M 540i. If I am not mistaken these were only sold in Canada.

That's what it said, and it did kinda look a tad... not stock, like the gap was noticeably off, to me anyway, but I thought that they're still a possible enthusiast so worth trying to get on here, just to let them get comfortable before people start flaming.

I was thinking something along the lines off a short greeting, noticed you may be an enthusiast, if you'd like you could join an online forum with fellow E34 driving enthusiasts...

Anything I should add to that?

I would add a comment about this being the ultimate source of info on his car for everything from maintenance to parts to custom work. Kind of a teaser to get him to take a look. Who knows he might lurk for a while and realize the error of a fake ///M before posting. :cool

LOL

Thanks for the help.

Next time I see it around I'll chuck it under the wiper and see what happens.

It's written up and in my glove box ready for whenever I next see the car parked somewhere.

I placed the note under the wiper today.

Though only Canada received the M540i, Australia and the United States (both markets where the 3.8-liter E34 M5 was never offered) also received special versions of the 540i with an M5-derived Nürburgring chassis and unique cosmetic items. These were known as the 540i Manual Limited Edition (Australia) and the 540i M-Sport (USA).

Australia did receive the 3.8 Litre M5, as we get Euro Spec BMWs.
It COULD be one of those special models though.

You ought to recruit that guy a screwdriver and some common sense. Tell him to pop that ///M off first :D
