i have had angel eyes on my car for about 3 years now. originally, for the first year or so, they worked like a charm, but a year after, one of the rings started to take really long to "warm up" and got its full brightness. then just recently another ring on the other head light started doing the same thing. so now whenever i turn on my angel eyes (connected through the parking light) it takes forever for my angel eyes to light up fully. on each side i have one angel eye that works perfectly and another one that is either very dim or takes really long to "warm up"

i got these angel eyes from umnitza a while ago, i think they are the first gen chromiums. what could the problem be?

Angel eyes are KNOWN for doing this in colder weather. especially as time goes on and connections get weaker.
i would make sure you have a nice solid connect, soldering them is your best bet!

i had the exact same problem. i replaced my ballasts with these http://vibelights.com/alduin.html and they never have to warm up(even the other day when it was 15º without wind chill)

i dont think it is because it is cold as it was doing this in the summer as well

Thanks, I am going to look into those, because I only have problems in the cold.

Wow, those are cheap. How do you know they are the right voltage/current though?

ccfl is ccfl. these are designed to light up 6-12" ccfl tubes which is exactly what the angel eyes are. many other users on this forum use the same ballasts with no problems(someone here told me about it). ive had them for quite a long time with no problems. just trust me;)

and ballasts arent expensive at all. dont let a dealer tell you you have to buy their $20 ballast. Now also, i think the pred chrom AE's use the black inverter on this website. not 100% though.

Hm, I see. Well, I've got a little dilemna going on here. I've been having problems with at least one of my angel eyes being dim and taking forever to pop on all the way. So, I am trying to decide what's the best thing to do. I have soldered all of my connections and am pretty confident they are good connections. The inverters are wired directly into the city light wires inside the headlights, which are then in turn spliced into the parking lights wires running to the corner lights.

I'm thinking my inverters might be bad/faulty. Here's my current situation. On the driver's side, the outermost ring comes on fast, even if it's below freezing out. The two innermost rings take a good bit longer, and when it's below freezing I have to run my high beams for a few minutes to get them to pop on all the way. On the pass. side, the outermost ring takes forever (upwards of 10 min.) to pop on all the way and only does so if it's fairly warm out (40s). I don't really think I have bad ring(s) because the innermost ring on the passenger side used to be the one that would take forever to pop on all the way, but now it's the outermost and the innermost one is ok.

The thing is, I bought the angel eye kit from DDM tuning w/ the "cold weather" inverter option, so they are actually DDE brand inverters with Predator Chromium angel eyes. I'm just not sure if I should have DDM send me new inverters under warranty or if I should buy completely different inverters that might work better than the DDE ones. I do have the basic non cold weather inverters that came with the kit, but supposedly these are not as good as the cold weather ones, aren't silicone filled, etc.

I want to make a good decision so that I don't have to keep cutting my wires shorter and shorter until I have good/best inverters. Please give me some advice. :(

not sure. but i had the exact same problem. the two inner rings stayed dim for like 20 minutes while the outer ones were fine most of the time. try looking at the other inverters on that website and see if they look the same. if your not sure, you do have that warranty. cant go wrong with that

Yeah I guess. I just would like to not have to keep cutting the wires shorter or adding soldered connections if I can help it. I really don't mind spending $9 on aftermarket inverters. What kind of angel eyes do you have? I wish mine worked in 15 deg. weather. :(

BTW, do you garage your car? Those inverters on that site you posted say it runs them "at a very high intensity", I hope that doesn't mean it will burn the CCFL bulbs out faster. And that black inverter that they also have looks a lot like the basic inverters that came with my kit.
