All of a sudden the lock on the drivers side will not open on my 89 535. It locks when using the key along with all the rest of the doors, but will not open. It moves up and down ok and even unlocks with a key in the emergency position holding the door handle up. Until today all worked fine. I must admit, I did a manual lock the night before. Now I can't seem to get them synced up. I followed the steps correctly ( I think) but not successfully. When I got the car last November, I had the same problem and I managed to work it out some how. Can anyone give me any ideas......

You're probably going to have to pop the door panel off and take a look. It's pretty common for the cast metal bracket on the door lock actuator to break, which can cause the symptoms you're describing. It's happened to me twice so far on an E34 and an E32.
