It's Leesburg, as in Lee's (Robert E. Lee) castle (or town).

Anyway, welcome to the area; I will look for a 635 to streetr4c3.

Leesburg is pretty nice overall. Maybe a bit too quiet though.

The P is Purcellville (purse-L-ville) and is my hometown, I've lived here for 43 years. There are too many people here now. Tell your parents to stay away! (j/k) I hope they like it here. It's crowded but still a nice place.

Ha, the roads are a 500% improvement over the crap you must traverse in Detroit. So if you like to drive, you come to the right place. Purcellville backs right up to some great roads. Enjoy!

The police in Virginia and specifically Northern Virginia are really nice and fairly lenient about speeding and such, so enjoy those roads.

/end sarcasm

Enjoy those roads at posted limits, the police feel that speeding and driving related offenses take precedence over more serious crime. Either that or the state just loves the revenue and to fill it's jails with reckless drivers. I haven't figured out which it is.

I agree police in northern virginia are pretty strict when it comes to traffic violations, but I think they really don't have much of anything better to do. It's not like crime in northern virginia is rampant.

The only "crime" in northern Virginia that's rampant is speeding. :rolleyes

Today, in Del Ray (Alexandria), there was a huge speed trap operation before the Rt. 1 bridge going into Old Town. They were pulling over seemingly every other car, writing them (likely pre-written) tickets, and sending them off. It was like an assembly line. How wrong is that? F***ing police... the biggest organized mob there is.

I continuously flashed my brights at the oncoming traffic to alert them to this, and I think most people appreciated it. Stickin' it to the man. :buttrock Musta flashed at least 25 cars.

I've known of people getting tickets for doing that.

Yeah, but I didn't see any cops past that point (they were all swarming around the speed trap), and hell, if I have to sacrifice $50 and a non-moving violation to help like 5-10 people escape serious moving violations, I don't mind. The speed limit is crazy low there--25--and everyone goes about 40-50. What would the charge/citation be? Interfering in police activity?

A high school friend of mine described an issue with one of her co-workers where she was being threatened with felony obstruction of justice charges for doing just that.

Dude, whatever you do, don't go over the speed limit/always use turn signals/never gas on a yellow/fully stop at stop signs/pedestrians have right of way even on the freeway etc ...

NOVA cops are the country's most anal cops when it comes to speeding/traffic violations.

I've never been pulled over, thankfully, but just about everyone I know has been stopped around the area.

The tickets aren't cheap and the cops are exactly nice, either. I'm willing to bet no warnings are given out in NOVA - tickets are inevitable.

Nope, mine's titanium silver. Just got it washed today; it was absolutely filthy before. Yates Car Wash in Alexandria (on Route 1) FTW. Brushless and a good place. Recommend it. :buttrock

An R8 would destroy me. RS4 would destroy me with my mods a bit less but still through and through. :(

Same goes for the DC/metro area; don't get pulled over!

But I have to agree, NOVA has the worst (well, technically, they're doing their job, but that doesn't benefit us THAT much now, does it? :stickoutt) cops in the US, that's for certain.

One key thing to mind: The DC car cell-phone use ban.

pucelllville? crowded? feel like i am in the boonies driving through there coming from dc! but yes, it is getting more populated..

speaking of pville...and driving in va. pville is only 20min east of summit point. ya just gotta be good with your speed until you get that 635 on the race track where it belongs....

Well your m would rock my 635 all day long haha. And I think it will be more likely to see me on the track with the bugeyed wrx waggin I'm getting in a couple months haha. 635 is more of a cruiser/highway machine. It'll be a nice drive from mi to va.

You guys have meets/get togethers often? Bmwcca events? I'm excited to be able to leave mi more often. A change of scenery will be nice....I mean I like Detroit It just gets a bit old from time to time.
