I don't have one, but I was at the Skins game in Markham last week... BMW Canada was one of the sponsors and they had a nice X5 there... 4.6L!! I never knew they had 4.6L X5.

Yeah, the 4.6l are bad ass, they're not even out yet, hmm, maybe they are now? But those things are awesome! They're really sporty

I'm still trying to figure out what to buy my wife for a car... been looking at the 2001 325i ... decided to look at the X5 yesterday after seeing a 4.4 on the street but I think it's way out of my price range.. like $40K even for the 3.0...

I'd recommend getting the X5 over ANY SUV out there, only b/c my parents don't take it off-road........

My dad has owned a jeep grand wagoneer, a Toyota Landcrusher, and now an X5......for the money, it's well worth it (this is coming from a guy who also drives a 2000 MB s500 AMG)

If you and your wife get a new car, I say stay with German, especially BMW :D The e46 aren't bad either, they drive like a dream too......can't go wrong with either choice, good luck with your decision

dang where's all the X5 owner's at? I wanna ask them how that SUV handles cuz my mom is planning to get a lexus RX300 or a BMW X5.

Well I don't own one but my aunt does.

It's a black/black 3.0 with the luxury package.

I drove it a bit and thought it was pretty sluggish. I guess I expected too much after hearing so much from the 4.4. One thing is that it handles great (imo) and the braking is also very good. Great SUV/SAV but I wish it would go faster for the price.

is about to add an addition to our bmw family! with an x5 3.0....she should get that over the lexus, i think its mroe of a sportier drivers car/nicer IMO...

I've seen X5's with and without these big things sticking up out of the front bumper (black triangular things...)

ok well I just registered so I could post in the forum that time forgot. I guess I must be one of the two X5 owners from DTM that you speak of, I have lurk here plenty of times to see what this forum had to offer X5 owners, and not to be mean but, it had nothing until the moderator did something about that, so tonight when I stopped in to see if anything was happening and saw the envelope on fire, I was surprised. Even though its three pages of basic talk, its something so thanks.

So here is something about my X, 2001 x5 3.0 Blk on Blk Auto Trans w/Steptronic, Sport Package, Activity Package, Climate Package,Premium Package,Sport Seats,PDC,Xenon Lights,in dash CD, Premium Sound w/DSP. I dont think there is a " Luxury Package" , might mean premium. I bought her has a X-mas present too my self on Dec 6th of 2000, the first month of owning was interesting to say the least, but all has been well since. At least it hasnt burnt up, oh and this is due to auxilary fans in some models.

So some of you thought noone that drove the mighty X would wander in here, so now what! and it was nice to see that you decided NOT to use this space for whoring, cause thats just not nice,lol.

well what else can I say, I LOVE MY X, so now I will visit often, maybe this will be the start of something LONG overdue.

2001 X5 Sport Black/Black, BMW lower body kit

Hey Mark, when you lowered the X5, did you already have the sports package on it? How did the drop affect handling and taking bumps?

BTW, your x5 looks JUST like my moms, only she has the running boards and no brush guard.

Guess that post is kind of misleading now that I look at it. What I meant is that we did the full lower body treatment that BMW offers. It's not lowered. I learned my lesson on lowering 4x4 vehicles. (DON'T DO IT!) Kept destroying front drive shafts on my Durango 4x4 that was lowered. Finally had to give the vehicle up.
If BMW does create a version with lowerewd suspension it will more than likey have a different front end setup to keep excess stress off of the the front drive shafts. I'll let BMW do the testing for that.

Mark, supposedly they are going to drop the X5 an inch or so when they release the X5 4.6, yes, 4.6, it's gonna be bad ass :D

I keep hearing the 4.6 is coming, then its not:mad: which is it aleady, as of today I hear its not:(

3.0 are not bad, the reason my dad got a 4.4 was cuz he loves to drive fast and the 4.4 hauls serious ASS.....he got mad though when he found out that they're coming out with a 4.6, but he loves the 4.4 too much....

Have you heard about the X5 that had a LMRv12 stuffed in it? They ran it around the Nurimburgring (sp?) and stuff like that...

oh yeah I love my car but I also have a 540i, a 95, so I know the difference in the engine power, I have seen pics of the 4.6, and the new colors for 2002, oh boy, nice.

I havnt heard about the X with LMRv12, do you have a link to anything about it, I am interested.

I am thinking about smoked tail lights for my X, what do you think? I think it might look nice since my car is black.

wow, there is an X5 forum... ;)

but i drove a X5 once... as part of bmw's drive for a cure thingie.... its a pretty nice vehicle.... normally when i have driven a suv before... it feel like im gonna tip over when im making a turn or something... but in the X5, it felt pretty solid when turning and seems to handle pretty good for a suv.... and it has some decent pickup too....

I need to replace the rubber strip above my right rear tire and the dealer qoutes a 100 price tag....yikes...I just cant stand seeing that lil dent.......thats something about my X.
