My 540i is going to need the dreaded "vacuum leak" issue fixed. Can anyone boost my confidence and push me to keep the car? I guess I don't know if I have what it takes to own and run one of these cars. Im considering selling it while I am still ahead. Just speaking out/venting a bit...

I guess this depends on whether you are doing the work yourself or not. All you need to own this car is money, time and an understanding wife. If you do the work yourself then you need more time and less money (and probably a spare car to get you around while yours is laid up)

My attitude is that my car is a toy that I drive when it's working properly. If it needs work it sits in the garage waiting for me to find the money and time to fix it while I drive a rusty Honda around.
