I have a 325e with over 300,000 miles and am in the process of looking for a new engine, still runs good but for how long? Anyway, I was wondering what was involved in putting the 325i in place of the 325e, or what other combos were possible, I know about the m50. Thanks....

if it still runs fine and you keep up the maintenance you could be good for another 100k. with that said, a 2.5 m20 would be a pretty simple swap. but if you plan on swapping the engine why not go with more power and put in a s50?

im pretty much in the same predicament. i dont have 7k to spend on an e36 m3 engine or something. i mean if i need to i will but can i work the engine i have? what would i need to look at doing?

It's been done plenty of times. Look in the 'Archives'. You will have to use all of the "I" electronics for it to run.
