I'm a member of MB GWS now ... :D Eric, normally WSSC is not available for auto-x events. Have you ever looked at the James Wood high School lot?

I went to the lot last year w/ the Benz club.

The Benz people, just like at the DE are very laid back and the course is not very technical at ALL. It's still fun, but i don't know if it was worth the drive. I think it may have been farther than summit point. I didn't know Winchester was THAT far away. It's also a very low key event, I don't think i saw more than 30 cars total at the last one. Did i mention the lot was really small too?

Hey NoSoup, We considered it, but it is far, small and there are restrictions in place. We need to run more than 50 cars per day ;)

MAN they use some HUGE cones at their autocrosses :P

I tried finding that WSSC lot tonight, but came up empty.. there was some organic compound factory? looking at the satellite images, there seems to be a lot down there, but it looks very small. Let me know what you guys find out this weekend.

This one is at the WSSC lot, and the rest are in Winchester. I am not going to Winchester, nope. And does anyone know what WSSC is? Is it the sewage treatment plant?

NoSoup4U

Yes, the WSSC is MUCH closer.

But look at it this way, if you goto Winchester, VA, you can stop by PTG!!! :D

I just asked if non club members could run in the event. this is the response.

Greg-

Sorry, I thought I got back to you. No, the event is open to other marques. You are welcome to attend. However, if you are not an MBCA member, you must join to compete in future events. Cost is $40 per year. Great deal. All events guarantee a minimum of 3 practice runs and 3 timed runs. Sometimes more depending on the number of cars. We try to limit the event to 50 cars.

See you Sunday.

Tom Newman

I am not paying 40 bucks for one autocross. If this is the case , I am not going. :(

WTF? I may or may not go now...

OTOH, $40 for 6 runs, it's normally $20-25 for 3 runs, so it's not that bad of a deal. Mark had said that the Winchester lot is small, but what about this WSSC place. It may be worth it.

James, you are a member right? Will I see you there if I go?

vjlax18

Or is it $40 for membership, plus the cost of the AutoX?

If you copied and pasted that in, it reads to me that for this one, you do not have to join, just for future events.

Okay, so who is actually going to this auto-x?

I'm foregoing my SCCA one since I will still be on snow tires ... and MB will be more laid back. I'm not even sure exactly where the heck this place is ...

Where is exit 30 columbia pike (route 29) northbound? I'm coming from 270 (bethesda).

gsober
04-25-2003, 09:03 PM
it turns out i may still go. i am not sure where it is. has vj been there? i wanted to go to summit point to watch a friend race but i may rather go and race around myself!!!

NoSoup4U- i think it is easier for you to go off of 495 and go north on 29, i think.

vjlax18

If you check the past results, you'll see that "Team Brochu" goes to all of them. Bill was the instructor at the school with the old black 5 series. It can't be that bad.

I have never been there, but considering 29 just runs from 70 to 495, it can't be that hard to find:dunno I think I have 2 other people to meet up with, and I will not know where until sometime tomorrow. I'll update what I'm doing - I know that I and my father are going, but my wife is not.:(

I'm out guys ... my car is still not ready .... I've decided to upgrade a few more parts ... (no bling bling parts ... parts to make me go faster and put down the power :D) ... I'm not willing to use my other car in that manner as well since it pushes pretty good ... lexus's are not meant for auto-x ... especially the SC400 :D ... heavy, bloated ... hard as hell to turn ... ask sean, we took a curve pretty good at 60 mph and I was fighting the understeer ...

Have fun ...

P.S.. -- if anyone is interested in an upgraded clutch ... let me know ... RPS is using my setup to custom fabricate a pressure plate/clutch/flywheel setup <--- nope, not free either :( ... they can custom make one with the pressure plate specific to your vehicle ...

But, we are going to make certain that the clutch is going to be good for 500+ rwhp and 500+ ft*lbs of torque while maintaining daily driving abilities ... < -- that should give you an idea of what I'm shooting for down the road ... :D :D .... not this year though ... I'm done after this last major expenditure ... I hate being without the car for 3+ weeks ... :D
