My battery runs down if I don't start my car in 4 days, I did a amp draw test with a meter .04 amps I would think that isn't enough to run battery down.
The battery is less than 1 year old. The battery has a place for a vent tube but I can't see any vent tube anywhere. I pulled the battery and looked all around the battery, no vent tube. Does all convertibles have vent tubes?
I charged my battery and let it sit for 4 days and it still 12.8v disconnected from the car. Thanks for any help.

i believe every e36 should have a vent tube, including convertibles.
that has nothing to with your battery draining problem though. your post is kind of confusing. are you asking for help regarding the battery's power, or did you just want to know if you have a vent tube or not? im not sure why you would mention the battery being bad if all you wanted to know was if it has a vent tube or not.

I'm having trouble with the battery running down and that I'm working on, I removed the battery while working on that problem and wondered why don't I see a vent tube or a hole for A vent tube? The battery that was in there had a fitting for a vent tube but nothing hoohed up. I even pulled the spare tire to look better around the battery area.

12.8 volts and dies after 4 days, I'd say you need a new one. :dunno
Battery voltage just sitting there should be about 13.5 volts
You might want to look to see that it's being recharged properly.
Check the voltage when car is running.
Your meter should show about 14.7 volts to charge the battery if I remember the number corrrectly;
in any event, HIGHER than the battery voltage.
If voltage not high enough, swapping batteries can go on endlessly, and never cure the problem.
If insufficent voltage, might need (a) alternator, or might need (b) regulator
(which I *think* is built into the alternator, but some cars have them seperate. DK with BMWs.). Or posts are just dirty??

THe hole for the vent tube to is on the left side corner of the well as you face the rear of the car looking from truck to hood. It's at a tough angle so best to locate it from under the car. Find the drain hole and run a piece of wire up and then find it in the battery well. Your new battey should have come w/ one if it's oem.
