I was wondering. My 325 xi seems to idle a bit hard. It has over 50K miles and i've changed out all the oils within the past 3 months. Is that common or is it supposed to be really quiet like japanese cars are. This is my first BMW so i dont know what to make of the idle sound. Someone help thanks.

My 330xi will idle quieter than any rice-burner, believe me because I've had a couple of them. But I do not want to regress here, so on to your question. First, is your Xi an auto or manual? Then what typical RPM are you idling at? Any thirdly, can you tell about how much fluctuation you are experiencing in the rough idle?
