I bought a '90 325i (215k miles) a little over a year ago, I've been refreshing the motor and body. I have never driven the car, so I can't say for sure this transmission is 100%, however, the car was decommisioned due to a dead timing belt (and I'm swapping for a 5sp). The previous owner told me the transmission was rebuilt about 5k miles before the belt let go. The torque converter is painted grey and has "03" painted on it, and I take that to mean '2003.' It definitely does not look like it's 18 years old. I bought the car in 09/06, and the PO said it sat for a year before I got it. So I'm guessing the car was only driven on the rebuild for two years maximum based on these dates and informarion.
