I'm 15 and She's 65 and has always had SUV's (They are Rich) Right not she drives a 2005 Escalade ESV and we went to a car show today, my Grandpa has been trying to convince her to let him buy her a Mercedes GL450 but she said she liked her car better. So she saw a GL450 at the car show and sat in it and loved it and she told my Grandpa that if he could sell her car then they could get that one so I said (Mamaw means Grandma where I live (NC))"Mamaw come over here and look at this BMW SUV" and she said OK. We got over there and she said "Well it is pretty" and I said "Sit in it" She did for about 5 Seconds then she got out and her reason for not liking it was and I quote "The seats were too hard"

They are going to look at GL's on Monday and she will probably get one, I like them but I like the X5 better.

That's funny...I have been playing with the idea of selling my E39 for an X5 for about a year now, but that is one of the things that holds me back...If you look into the interior (rear seats mostly) of my 5er the seats are nice and thickly padded leather, but the X5 has rear seats that look horrible and cheap by comparison...this although it sounds silly makes me hesitate...I realize they are probably made that way so they can fold flatter, but geez...even my old Explorer Limited had nicer rear seats...I keep meaning to get out there and actually DRIVE the X5...can not make a decision until I do...but I have to say even the M-class (I believe an ACTUAL SUV has nicer seats)...although could NOT go to an MB myself...not loving the "mini-van" look from the rear and can not live without my heated steering wheel...which MB does not offer until the most recent models (too rich for my blood!) Do a google search for comparison between the ML and the X5...(I realize Gramma is looking at a G class) but a VERY thorough man has a feature for feature detailed comparison of the two and the BMW wins hands down...he is an older fellow as well and his key consideration was safety...I will look for it!!! There are also considerable questions about the build quality of some of MB's products in the past few years...
