So I'm a total newb when it comes to HID, I have a '98 328ic coming, what are the stock bulbs in this car? I'm thinking Halogen's right? So if I want to put HID's in my low beams, is it as easy as swapping out the bulbs??? I'm thinking not, but am not sure. Is there some sort of conversion that I need to do for some reason I'm thinking I need ballasts.
Could someone help a dummy out, is there a book "HID's for Dummies" hahha
Thanks

Not as easy as swapping out bulbs. You need a headlight with projectors. The HID kit you buy will come with ballasts.

It's easier to swap halogens to HID in an Acura or Nissan than a BMW.
apart from the projector / reflector setup, you have to make sure your HID won't cause an error in the ECU of the car.

Go to http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/index.php and read up on HIDs there. Strongly suggest using a forum sponser here as they have good reps and if you have an issue help is only an email away.

Also check out The Lighting FAQ (http://faqlight.carpassion.info/) for good info, pictures and aiming instructions. IF you would like to learn more about Halogen lighting and headlight technology, try Daniel Stern's site (http://www.danielsternlighting.com/) too.
