I was hoping to finish this car myself and race it, but it has come time to sell it. This car is owned by a friend of mine, and they have asked me to sell it.

Link to pics.... http://picasaweb.google.com/LandsharkMZ3/ProjectMRoadster

The car is a 2000 M Roadster with ~25k miles. Alot of work and great parts are in this car. Here are some facts and highlights about the car....

Drivetrain:
-No motor included (but I have a US S50B30 90% assembled available if interested)
-ZF 5-Speed tranny and driveshaft
-"Boxed" rear diff mount
-Quaife 2.79 LSD (very low miles)
-Rogue diff cover
-stock radiator and Fluidyne radiator included
-tranny cross member with solid mounts

Suspension:
-D/A Advance Design Coilovers (w/ traditional separated rears)
-Ground Control Offset control arm bushings
-Aluminum control arms
-Ground control rear shock mounts

Brakes:
- Front: Wilwood "Superlite" 4-piston calipers with thin disk rotors (non-vented). These are extremely light. Extra set of rotors and pads included.
-Rears: stock calipers and Hawk HP+ pads (IIRC)

Wheels/Tires:
-Front: 18x10.5 CCW Classic with titanium fasteners, used 285/30/18 Kumho V710 Mounted
-Rear: 18x11 CCW Classic with titanium fasteners, used 285/30/18 Kumho V710 Mounted
-these things are absolutely fabulous condition, no rash anywhere.

Interior:
-Sparco Evo2 seats, VAC floor mounts with sliders, passenger side needs a set of sparco side mounts
-Sparco 6-pt harnesses
-Momo Trek steering wheel
-A/C removed (heater core still in), radio and speakers removed, airbags removed, and most corresponding wiring removed.

Exterior:
-Stock hood has been professionally flared.
-bumper and front 1/4 panel have been cut for tire clearance
-rear fenders have been rolled for tire clearance

As you can see there is over $10k worth of parts alone. The car really needs to move fast. I am listing it at $12,000 OBO.

I also have a TC Kline Carbon Fiber hood, and a new Estoril blue hardtop (that has less than 20 miles on it) that I will make available to the car buyer much, much cheaper than I would to sell individually. I also have many more parts, gauges, etc. which I will negotiate in to get this car gone.

I wouldn't normally repost someone else's ad but this just really looks like a perfect candidate for a kickass LS1 swap. I'm a sucker for Estoril Blue BMWs, and M Coupes and Roadsters (if it was an M Coupe in similar condition I'd be calling my banker!). Its already got huge-by-huge CCW wheels and race tires, big brakes, Sparco seats, the boxed/dual ear mounted rear diff, and some other upgraded suspension bits. No motor (and you could sell the trans). Yesss..... :evil2

Don't contact ME, I don't know any more about it than I read at the original ad, I was just in love with this thing and thought it would "fit" with someone on this sub-forum. Here's some more pictures I re-hosted and cropped...

E36 and Z3 engine bays are the same, and other than a shifter hole difference most E36 LS1 swap kits should fit... :devillook

Terry - thanks for crossing this over, it slipped my mind that it would be a prfect post for this section.

At one point we actually discussed making this a XP car with a LS1, and I think it would be a great candidate for that. Everything is negotiable. Don't want the tranny? I will reduce the price or throw some other stuff in. Want gauges? I've got some. Want a nice 23ft dove tail open trailer to haul it away on? I've got one of those here too!

Terry - you know with the LS1, the cage/reinforcement rules in XP, the hardtop, etc, you could still make a REALLY mean car out of this and have better results with a wing on this than you would a coupe!

LALALALA! I'M NOT LISTENING! LALALALA! I'M IGNORING YOU! LALALALALA! :mad

Somebody please buy this car... before I do! :help

Believe me, that's all Hanchey and I and others have talked about all morning - buying your car for an LS1 swap! If I showed my wife it would be all over - she loves the idea of having more LS1 powered BMWs, and that Estoril Blue M with the hardtop.... woo... man! :eyecrazy

if not you, someone needs to buy this car!! (but I think it should be you :stickoutt)

You could even pull the A/D coilovers, go for the AST, and put a big banner across the car. With a little body work this thing would look amazing. Think about that car, and compare it to this one (below) and put them together...

This would be so much more car than the old boosted Miata, and even eclipse the V8 powered pony cars you had in the past. LS1, roadster, full tilt boogy race car.

DOO EET! :alright

I'm coming by your house to twist your arm into buying this car! I'll be there in 10 minutes! :evil2

I just talked to Jason, and made the sweetest offer I could possibly make. The rest, I leave up to you! At this offer, the car could be parted out and could make good money!

I really like what he wants to do with the car. It's what I wanted for the car.

I priced a complete Z8 front end on http://www.realoem.com for under $8k.

Fenders $500 each, hood $1k, bumper $1k unpainted, headlights $1k each, etc... I would love to see someone make a Z8 front work on an M coupe or hardtop roadster then put an S62 or LSx in it!! :D

An out-of-the-box driveshaft would likely need to be cut/balanced due to this shifter difference. Not a huge mod, but something to be noted.

Unless of course you are making driveshafts based on measurements that the customer sends you once they get to that point of the swap.

If everything continues to go as planned (sale pending), the new owner is getting a crazy deal for the parts included for the price paid. If the new onwer's plans pan out as expected, this thing should be one of the most amazing cars on this board.

Well, don't set expections too low for me or anything. :stickoutt

I'm stoked to get the car and can't wait to tear into it! For those who are wondering, it will be XP autoxer with an occasional time trial thrown in for good measure. Power will come from a LS6/T-56. I figure a 2500lb car with about 430-450 rwhp might get the job done! :alright

As far as the driveshaft, I will just take measurements once everything is bolted in and send those to their driveshaft supplier. I figured as much. Thanks for the heads up.

That's the way to do it. Hopefully they can get it right on the first try....when I had my driveshaft made they made it a cool 10" too long. Pretty frustrating when it's basically the last piece of the puzzle and you're itching to get her on the road.

I hear ya. Joe, I just checked out your website and I must say very nice! I hope you don't mind if I ping you from time to time with a few questions during my build.

BTW, as soon as I get the car back to Dallas and I sell off my '95 M3 track car (any takers?) I'll start new build-up thread.

No problem just shoot me a PM or send an email. It's been over 2yrs now since I initially dug into the project and over a year since she fired up, so I may not remember all of the little details but I'll help if I can.

Nope, but McCall did. I'm goin' with him to pick it up next weekend, assuming the plans don't change. Looooooong tow, but we will swap out driving in shifts and hopefully be there and back in under 36-40 hours.

It may sit for a few months while he sells one of his E36 M3s, but eventually it will get the LS1 treatment and prepped for track and autocross use.:buttrock

Yep, and resting nicely in my garage back in Dallas. Thanks again to Jason for the help with the sale and for putting up with us as we were a bit loopy after the 15 hour drive to just get there.
