for those of you that have picked up this option on the 335...what do u think about it?

I don't have it but I test drove an e90 with it, and I personally liked it, but it is too much money for what it's worth. Maybe more significant on a 5 or 7 series, but on the 3 series, it can be skipped, unless you have money to to spare and nothing else better to pick.

i love the standard steering very much, i can't imagine how they could improve upon it. but i guess if you have the bucks, go for it. :)

Much more responsive at low/moderate speeds, a small flick of the wheel and you can navigate around an obstacle. Didn't really get to do any parking lot maneuvers, so didn't see the advantages there firsthand. As you said though, the standard steering is already very responsive, so this is a personal preference option. My advice to the OP is don't go for it without test driving it first.

Before I ordered mine I drove one with active and one without for several miles in and out of the city. I personally prefer NOT to have active steering. Way too touchy for me at low speeds and you lose the classic BMW steering feel. Try test driving one with and on without to verify for yourself.
