Put me on the list of people who care. :wave Didn't Arrows have a wing on the front of the nose banned a few years ago? (OK I'm getting older it might have been more than a few.) If I recall it was mostly banned for being fugly. Surely this would have the same problem.

Thanks Dmundy, It should, and it does, but most of the newbies' here would not know what an Arrows is anyway :stickoutt :D

I'm with you on too much of the races being determined by the engineers (could Alonso ever win at Super aguri?), but that doesn't mean they don't have to do much.
They do a lot more than in any other form of motorsport, IMO. It's just that they are limited in competitiveness by their machinery.
jvit27 01-23-2008, 10:23 AM An Ex-F1 driver was telling me a few weeks ago how it's more like a job than anything; you show and drive THEIR car. The driver has very little input when it comes to setting up the car. He can ask to play with the shocks/springs a little but that's about it..

Nobody could win in the Super Aguri of the moment, not now, not ever. Always has been like that in F1.
You COULD make a case for some of Nuvolari's races or for maybe Ickx in a F2 car at the ring...but those were very special circumstances:)
Unless everyone in front crashes or brakes down of course.

dejablu311 01-23-2008, 11:34 AM yeah i was talking to Captain Kirk the other day and he said basically the same thing. He wanted to give technical input but the "know it alls" at Star Fleet wouldn't hear it.

Heidfeld unsure about BMW's form
By Jonathan NobleWednesday, January 23rd 2008, 13:12 GMT
BMW Sauber are not where they should be with their new F1.08 and need to work hard to overcome the balance problems that have affected early testing.
That is the verdict of Nick Heidfeld who, despite feeling confident that the team can get things sorted before the Australian Grand Prix, admits that their new car has not yet delivered what he had hoped.
"Last year (at this stage) things seemed better to me," said Heidfeld during testing at Valencia in Spain. "Last year the balance was there quicker and we were more where we expected to be.
"But I cannot yet say this car is worse, because I think we know what areas we have to work on. We are quite confident that by Melbourne we will be able to be where we scheduled ourselves to be."
When asked by autosport.com to describe what the car's handling felt like, he said: "On the balance side we are not yet where we would like to be.
"We already saw that last week. We had some improvements here, and we know where we have to work. We have to get new parts on a daily basis and I think we will improve the car quite quickly to where we should be.
"There are some parts still in the wind tunnel which are not on the car yet. But even without those, we expected to have a car that had a nicer balance.
"We've made some set up changes and the aero adjustment is getting better, but it is still not where it should be."
BMW Sauber have set their sights on a maiden Formula One victory this year after finishing second in the constructors' championship last year.

S.Lang 01-24-2008, 03:01 AM Let's hope the appearance of those friggin' horns in not an indication of a design team in desparate search of a solution to some Honda 2007-like issue on some level.

Oh I'm sure they have more of a 'clue' that you credit them with. I'm sure everyone with some say here has put some track time in somewhere, albeit not at a professional level. Unless, just being Vitolos' next of kin or having friends like Scott automatically makes you the 'best' informed :rolleyes
When it comes to F1, sure, we're all armchair racers, but guess who defines the sport? :shifty
Whatever you say, Speed was a punkass in F1 irrespective of what good you've seen in him elsewhere. And that car is just plain fcuking ugly!

From what I have been hearing, BMW-Sauber is growing angry with Heidfeld. His lack of team-player mentality and general bashing of the new car in the media hasn't helped his relations within BMW-Sauber. They already have another driver lined-up to take his place, while contract loop holes are being studied. BMW's new driver is reputed to be Boss Hogg.
