I need some assistance, i just replaced my intake manifold gasket and all the vacume lines that were worn. I made sure all the connectors were connected and vacume lines routed properly. I ran the vehicle for several miles with no issues. Later i got a check engine light, and the car went into "fale safe mode". I checked the codes with my code tool, and got a "6d" which references to a motorized throttle valve (MDK). Ii removed many of the items and checked to insure all the connectors were secured.
I can't understand what could be causing this fault, and is the motorized throttle valve the same as the throttle housing assembly? Help.

I didn't think the M52 engine in this car is drive-by-wire and that there's a throttle cable. A quick perusal of the IPB tends to support that. That being the case that code doesn't make a lot of sense. Either the code tool is confused or the table lookup is wrong.

The ASC throttle body controller might be a possibility as could the TPS.

Based on my vehicle vin# its is a m52 engine and the throttle is a cable attached to the throttle valve; however, there is a motorized attachment with a connector. I used this reset tool and it does defults to table 15 as soon as I plug it in and start to read faults. I am at a point where, I suspect a possible fuel vent line that has a connector with a weird lock that cracked when I didconnected it (the line is fine the lock assyembly cracked). It goes from a small valve with a elecrtical connector, that hangs on the front of the intake manifold to the fuel tank breather valve. I think it may not be as secured as it needs to be, causing a the 6D fault code (MDK)...I read something about this from the fourm...Thanks for your help, please continue to post.

Sounds like the object with a cracked connector is the evaporative control valve. If the valve solenoid was open or shorted it would cause a code. But generally not if the hose wasn't sealed. The latter case would be an intake leak and those, unless really bad, don't cause a fault code. And when they do it will generally be for a fuel trim malfunction.

It would be a good idea to have the car scanned by someone with a full-up BMW diag system.

Thanks i am sure i installed everything correct. i feel like may-be the fault is triggered by the throttle valve (MDK), being that some codes is 6D and 78, both relate to the same (MDK not plausble), but aftere removing and inspectiong the unit there seems to be no visual damage, the oring is clean on the MDK and the connectors are all secured. I got a BMW tech that will attempt to check it out, the only issue is the car ran fine prior to me changing the intake manifold gasket, and the vacume lines...(all installed correct)
It could be just a bad mdk that faulted or decided to fail, because the car ran great for may be 40 miles after i done this task. I feel like i should just start over and remove the intake manifold and inspect everything, but it could just be something minor causing this...Thanks for all your help...continue to respond if you can...

Before I did anything else I'd want to see the results from a more capable diag system. From the codes I suspect that you have a Peake tool and I've seen it produce some strange results at times.
