View Full Version : I need a tire!
Cloudbase 01-18-2008, 04:07 AM Does anybody have a wornout 245/40 ZR 17 they want me to haul away?

A Michilen Pilot Sport would be perfect, but anything that size will work. I have $$$...
Schnitzerflitzer 01-18-2008, 04:23 AM Ive got a Dunlop SP9000 in 245/40ZR 17. 6mm tread (not really sure, but will tell you if you interesting). Would make a gift to you. You must pay only the shipping fees from Germany.
Regards Marco
E36Chubbs 01-18-2008, 11:04 AM Check on craigslist...I bought two Continentals in that same size from the guy w/ like 75% tread left for $20 each. I think he has some PS on there right now in that size.

Kumho Ectsa on this one...
Item #. 63 Qnty. 1 245 40 17 P245/40R17 Kumo Ecsta 80-90%

Cloudbase 01-18-2008, 06:42 PM Thanks Marco, but the shipping would probably kill my "trying to do it on the cheap".
Thanks for the tip Robengrat,
I found the Kumho one earlier and I emailed the guy you bought the conti's from.
E36Chubbs 01-18-2008, 06:57 PM The guy I bought mine from was Randy...
Here is his ad.

mrnvgtr 01-18-2008, 07:08 PM Good ad, geesh. I'll keep him in mind if I have a problem with mine.
TRR330xi 01-18-2008, 11:53 PM I have a set of 235/45/17 Nittos just sitting in my garage. I was going to use it for auto-x, but let me know.
fsmtnbiker 01-19-2008, 01:03 AM I've got two 245/40-17 Hoosier A3S04's in the garage you can have.
Pretty sure that's not exactly what you had in mind, though. :)
Cloudbase 01-19-2008, 02:12 AM I might take them off your hands. I couldn't find a description for the A3S04 Do you think they'll be okay for my bi-monthly drives unitl April.
fsmtnbiker 01-19-2008, 03:53 AM Well... That depends on how far you plan on going. I would call them a 'dry, warm weather' tire only. :)

Cloudbase 01-19-2008, 03:55 AM Those are hillarious! Are you serious about giving them away?
AlpinweissM3 01-19-2008, 04:01 PM Seeing as how I gave them to him I am pretty sure he is serious about giving them away.
Cloudbase 01-19-2008, 08:39 PM Would it be a death sentence to do a couple drives on dry roads, but colder temps with those until I get my new tires?
AlpinweissM3 01-21-2008, 12:02 AM I wouldn't say its a death sentence I would just drive extra careful. Especially if you have street tires up front because the grip would be radically different and it would upset the balance of the car.
fsmtnbiker 01-21-2008, 01:24 AM A death sentence? Probably not for you. Your rear rocker panels will probably have no paint left on them by the time you take the tires off (or get home from the first grocery run)... And if you look at water the wrong way, hold on tight. They're definitely intended to be competition only.
Cloudbase 01-21-2008, 12:41 PM Yeah, that's what I thought. Thanks guys.
E36Chubbs 01-21-2008, 01:05 PM Yeah, that's what I thought. Thanks guys.

Cloudbase 01-23-2008, 11:33 PM What do you have? I might be headed up that way for some boarding next week.
M62pwrdE38 01-24-2008, 12:27 AM If you are interested in getting brand new tires, I can get you a deal on Bridgestone/Firestone/Fuzions.
Cloudbase 01-24-2008, 12:48 AM I will be interested in new tires in a couple months. I'm still figuring out if I want to repair the curb rash on my stock wheels of go aftermarket. I have a line on some one piece 18" BBS RK's.
kalani59 01-24-2008, 10:10 PM so i have some 235-45-17s but if u come down here what we can do is go to some of the repair shops down here and they have alot of good used tires i can prob get them for free but let me know:)
Cloudbase 01-25-2008, 12:20 AM Thanks guys. I bit the bullet and bought the General Exclaims off of craigs. I wanted to get something cheap and quick so I could go to the GTG this Saturday. I've never even heard of that brand before and I'll replace them with new Michelin Pilot Sports once I figure out if I'm going to upgrade my wheels. But, I'm actually not that disappointed, they don't look half bad.

Wait till you put some power to them :lol
Lol JK, IDK, never heard of them either.
Cloudbase 01-25-2008, 12:24 AM If only my subframe was reinforced I would do a burnout contest with them!!!
M62pwrdE38 01-25-2008, 01:39 AM They aren't bad for their price, but they aren't RE-01Rs or Pilot Sports.
fsmtnbiker 01-25-2008, 02:16 AM but they aren't RE-01Rs
Not much other than the Neova or an R-compound is. :)
I <3 my RE01Rs.
